YAY! I loved Cooking Mama. Can't wait to try this one out. And I guess those ecoterrorists of PETA will be happy now. And this comes from a sworn vegetarian...

Is this more like harvest moon or like cooking mama in that you do little motions to plant and water, etc..

I liked both Cooking Mama games and they definitely have an air of quality about them. Hopefully this one will be just as good

It's just like Cooking Mama, where the motions are to plant instead of cook. There's a new selection screen where you can move around the garden as you plant, but it's classic Mama otherwise.

I suspected Mama grew her own vegetables for the Cooking Mama game, taking this logically She has now grows the said vegetables and then cooks them. Does this mean that we can now look forward to "Eating and composting Mama" the game, to round of the experience ?

if you liked cooking mama then i guess you also should like this. even though that this one seems to aim at girls even more than cooking mama did.

Its good, but it'd be pretty nice if they released this before cooking mama, so you could pull plants from your garden via a save game (possibly in COOKING MAMA 3?)

Played the first "plant" so far and it's decent for what it is. The new instructions will take some getting used to since none of the ones from Cooking Mama are repeated. So when she tells you to scoop fertilizer it's a brand new on-screen command you have to learn.

Really, this is the kind of game where it's just an extension of the idea already put forth. So if you liked Cooking Mama and wanted to know how Mama also gardens, you already know what this game is and how it plays.

Edit: Just want to add that this IS a Harvest Moon aspect to it. After you initially plant the seeds/seedlings, you do have to maintain them by watering and them eventually harvesting them. But it's definitely Cooking Mama in the garden, only your recipe doesn't end at the end of the first set of instructions, you'll keep going back and forth.
