I have had various problems with the patches. I have my original save, which I was able to edit all characters gold, exp, skill points and the like.

I have decided to alter my characters equipment and such. I tried the custom skills save patch. I was able to get it to work (somewhat) on my first character (sorceress) but not the second (warrior). The warrior simply could not be altered. I tried deleting the first character forcing him to be the first, that did not work either. The same goes for the newest save patch, it won’t touch the warrior for some reason.

Quite literally the warrior will NOT change at all when using this patch. Oddly enough the Sorceress will in position one.

In addition, I am unable to use the usable patch.

Any suggestions or questions?

FYI my process is as such:

Copy save file to USB.

Open USB and copy file to desktop (PS3 folder) and backup location

Open Bruteforce (fully patched)

Assign path for SAVEDATA folder

Decrypt PFD

Either click CHEATS > or simply open one of the files manually (custom skills for example).

Click through cheats I want.

Update PFD>

Rebuild

Verify

Copy file to USB and back to PS3 (having deleted old save from PS3).

I go through that process and much of it does NOT work for the warrior.

The order of the characters you left in game is not exactly like the order they're saved in SAVE0.DAT. The fact that your previous cheats for your Sorceress worked is because you created her first, ever. Could your Fighter not even be the second character you created, ever? If he is the second, use cheats that start with [Character 2 - ""].

The save patches are not flexible. They are limited to 1-2-6 characters, and these slots don't always point to the characters you expect them to in game. Doing 'Select Player' or deleting characters to make them switch places - won't have much effect on the save file.

I can't suggest much unless -
A) I expand on the save patches
B) I finish the editing app <- I lean towards this
C) You start over using Data 2 with Fighter, then apply cheats
D) You are prepared to learn how to hack harder
E) Someone smarter than me comes along

Some questions / tips :
  • Can you describe your experience with the Usables app?
  • What you said about the updated patch not touching the Fighter is odd. Could he even be the 7th or beyond, that you've created?
  • After applying cheats, the options to Update PFD/Rebuild/Verify are redundant. You may have forgotten to Encrypt, but you insisted (and I assume) that you could go in game and check the cheats weren't working. Without encrypting, your save is invalid and unreadable by the PS3.

Thank you for the speedy reply.

The warrior is down the list on characters made. I was able to edit his level, skills and etcetera a week or so back so he was in the top six.

Thanks for the help! =) It is logical that even though he is first/second on list he really isn't when it comes to how the data is saved.

That won't work unless you created all existing 6 wizards or sorceresses in a row. Confirm you want to corrupt your save? I could do it.

You're saying the usables app affected the store prices too? Very interesting.
It seems there is data for the store stock saved in the file too, and I shouldn't break it.
Here's a note: In a usable's data structure, the values for durability become the restock amount. It could stand for current restock/max restock, or current restock/something.

I will
  • Find the location of Morgan and Lucain's store
  • Change the usables app to allow you to edit restock amount
  • Change it again so it treats Morgan and Lucain's store differently.
  • Add these features to the beta.

Hello everyone,
I'm stuck at a crucial point in developing the main editing app. Due to a lack of research and other reasons, I will reluctantly push back the release of this app to an unknown date.
Instead, I am considering making a different tool that prints all existing items found in-game to a text file to help identify
  • characters/containers who own these items
  • item types
  • durability/restock amounts
  • item levels
  • item grade
  • affixes/effects
  • attack/defense
  • and more
If you like to help my research, please share the printed text file mentioned above.

I am a bit confused... Share what printed text file mentioned? I would be more than happy to share what I've got ( a couple of saves that I can datamine) but not sure how to go upon what you're asking.

Second, I am sad to learn of the push back towards the release of the app. In all honesty I was really hoping for an app to ease the editing of a character. I check this forum DAILY, so this was a big bummer for me. I was hoping for only a few of your tools/uses.

Quite simply it would be nice to be able to pull up a character and edit items. Even if it was limited I would have liked to see an item I have equipped here is an example:

Item 1= Sword of bla bla bla (the text doesn't have to read item name)
Editor would read it as having x slots editable. Each slot having text with corresponding affixes (e.g. + % dmg to draconic or ??? if it is not a known affix).
I would be able to click and adjust the affixes in GUI fashion.

Maybe a clicky to make all pots stack higher and etcetera.
Level up, gold, and other easy adjustments.

Put simply; GUI version of basic patch abilities. That's it =) I would release an alpha with those limited functions

Sorry to disappoint you Don.
Don't be confused, the main editing app is my highest priority. Your description of the alpha's basic abilities are accurate, but even that had some hitches. I was hoping the tool mentioned above would help me research and bypass these current problems:
  1. Number of affix slots: Almost editable. What use is the app if you're trying to edit an equip with no slots. I want to allow you to add/edit all slots. I found many items with 0~8 slots in game, and the tool would help me find the difference between these items. Just two bytes of hex code determines the equip type and # of slots. But, with your go-ahead, I can skip this research.
  2. Compatible affixes: I have a 90% completed list of affix IDs. But you might get no or different results if you add affixes that aren't compatible with certain equip types. Certain affix IDs change according to equip type. The editor should allow you to only pick compatible affixes. Unless you wish I could let you pick any from a separate list like the patches (trial and error).
  3. Affix Values: Because almost every affix rolls a certain range, their corresponding values are unique. Also, I would like to make these values readable, instead of making you edit raw hex values. So there is work to get you to interpret these things. If you allow me, I could ignore this and make you edit raw hex values.
If you wish to help my research using the tool mentioned, you can just upload to me the printed text file, then you need not understand anything else.

I see where you put the file, on the first post. I will run it when I'm home. I can run it past a few saves. Would it be best to run on a save with many characters, or a save with the longest played time?

e.g. does a save file contain information towards looted items no longer in the players stash? Either way I'll see what I can do.

Use the unofficial save patch v1.01

It's best to equip many characters with all types of equips and organize them in some way: e.g. each bag is filled with a certain type of equip, ordered in # of affix slots, or as many different affixes on them as possible so I can make a list.
Look up the text file and your game side-by-side and reinterpret the data to the best of your ability, adding names and numbers to help me identify them.
Again, the amount of work involved is up to you. Thanks.

Hello everyone,

Here's my progress over the last few days:
  • Found the location for stores Morgan and Lucain.
  • Edited the Dragon'sCrownConsumables app to not affect Morgan and Lucain. The usables in their stores are no longer overpriced after using this app.
  • Edited Dragon'sCrownItemFinder for more accuracy when finding items and printing to a text file. Now finds NPC items and store items.
  • Edited the two apps mentioned above to not require setup. You still do need some setup - the old way.
  • Edited the unofficial save patches to accurately increase all bag sizes for 1~6 characters, and now includes unlocking all 9 bags.
  • Found NPC locations.
  • Updated the main app using recent research.
  • Started a chart for Equip IDs and # of slots, but it's incomplete. I'll be checking your printed text files :)
On a note with the ItemFinder:
The best way to use this tool is to organize your inventory in game, run the tool, and reinterpret the data in the text file. What I did was equip all my characters with same types of items in each of their bags, in order of increasing affix slots. I looked up their "xx: " values in the text file, and created a chart of Item IDs and # of slots. If you're struggling with unlocking all slots on your items, refer to this chart:

Cheers!

The tools are not restricted to your version of DC. It may be a problem with the games.conf and global.conf I provided. Try setting it up the old way using your own files. Maybe I can't make the setup easier.
Edit: :wtf: I corrupted my save! I will modify the downloads on #1 to not include games.conf and global.conf; the pfdtool will not decrypt properly, and then the crc check will screw up the rest. We will have to set it up the old way.

I can confirm it works on Data1 for me, but what happens to the other Data on your end?
When moving items, the game mechanics take over and overwrite your changes. It's almost like character stats, Elf holdout daggers, and spell books.
We're editing saves, not memory.
