Gaming Dragon Quest V with R4

I've tryed everything and i'm at a loss. When I load narins cheat code database to my R4 (with newest firmware) I turn the cheat on that reads "Backup Enabler/Game Fix Code" but when I try to get past the boat, I cannot. I talk to the captain and nothing happens. I scroll down the list of cheats but I don't see one called Bypass Piracy Protection, and i'm assuming "Backup Enabler/Game Fix Code" is the same thing.

Someone please help, i'm dying to play this game, any and all help is appreciated.

I have that. I just talked to everybody on the boat, then the captain again (using that cheat) and i left the boat.

yup.. the code name is backup enabler/game fix code

activate the code before you start the game
talk to everyone, break some barrels, open cabinet or drawer and explore a little
then you should be able to get off the boat

I guess all along I just needed to stop being lazy.
