What's a good class to change to from minstrel? I was thinking warrior, but they're too slow. Then I thought martial artist, but they don't have good defense. Would thief be good?

I have a warrior and he is really strong, just gather some stuff with agility on it and sometimes i am faster than some of my partymembers

I'm actually beginning to go back and forth now between classes, leveling up skills from certain classes, then returning to my old classes. It's also an easy way to rack up skill points for use in your original class if you're looking to power a given skill.

Man -- I'm really really enjoying this game!

What a pleasant surprise! Best DS RPG of all! Way way better than FF 4 on the DS!

What a fun little game!

First DLC is online. Where do you need to go to download it?

The lady standing just left of the Celestrian inside the inn at Stornburg. She also sells unique items.

Which begs the question, is it possible to shop/get online quests with the dumped copy of the game? I thought there was an issue with that?

Didn't got quests yet, but shopping works fine (I'm using the Xenom release).
I guess those quest you get after beating the main story ?

sweet we have a DQ 9 thread! cuz i have a question.

Do i buy items from the shops? Is it worth picking up weapons and such? Ive been grinding and the only good weapon I found so far is a dinky soliders sword. and thats after 150 monsters. the item loot in this game is kinda frustrating!!!

LOL YES! Buy from the the shops! The monsters pretty much won't drop anything useful to use as a weapon. Though they do drop ingredients for cool weapons made from the Krack Pot.

I picked Warrior and kinda dont like it, but Ive got almost 100 points into the warrior already......can I pick a 2nd class or whatever or am I stuck with warrior only?

And how do you get party members?

Every skill that you learned (not spells) is carried over to any class (for example if you spent 100 points on sword, when you switch to a mage you can use a sword !).

To recruit party members go the second town's Inn (in Stornway) talk to Patty (the left blue haired woman) and start your adventure.

Wow I did not know this. Btw what level are you guys?! 100 skill points already?! I think im at 15

So if I am a minstrel and I level up my sword skills and later switch to Mage, I can keep dragon slash and the other abilities I learned while I was a Minstrel?

And I don't understand what some of you guys are doing. You say that you are switching back and forth to level up different classes and get the skills for that class and then switch to another, to level up different skills. But when you switch classes does your level reset back to 1? If it does I can see why people would do this as you then could create a super character with all the abilities (but very time consuming). But if not then wouldnt maxing out your char in one field be better than half finished skill trees once you reach max level.

btw what is the max level in this game? 100?

Apparently 99 is max!
and when you switch classes you start at lvl 1 so everyone start farming!

I've been thinking about the Tag mode. And I had a question.

Is there a DS emulator that can emulate the DS wifi signal? Would it be possible to say, load up DQIX on an emulator with the save file that has all those famous maps on it, then set it to 'canvass for guests' and connect to it with your regular ds?

I mean, there'd be obvious hardware requirements, a laptop or PC that can send out a wifi signal. But I mean, I'm not familiar at all with DS emulation. Might it be possible?

If someone figured that out, it would be amazing. I have 1 friend that has a DS and she doesn't own DQIX. It would be nice to be able to pick up in game goodies without having to find random people to tag with. I walked around several public places over the course of a few hours I thought some game nerds would hang around and didn't pick up a single guest.

o_o I honestly still haven't been able to connect to Wi-Fi with my DS, but I'm going to the Gamestop event on the 31st so we'll see

I've been getting the shop every day easily. Connected to wi-fi just fine for me.

Whenever I try to complete the Collapsus's Call quest, the game freezes. I'm using an Acekard2i. Is there any way around this? I've completed the story and this is the only thing that freezes for me. :/

Post this in the appropriate forum http://gbatemp.net/f172-acekard
It would be much easier to help you there.

I just restarted because I'm OCD and i didn't like how my main character was the only angel without a bird themed star constellation for a name.

Aquila - hawk
Apus Major - birds of paradise
Columba - dove
Corvis - crow

new main character name - Cygnus - swan, last in pattern. I can sleep now.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Cygnus is the name of the Guardian of Stornway. Also Pavo is the person who helps you connect online. I went with Altair because it is a star in the constellation Aquila and also means Eagle. The only other constellation i can think of that is a bird is Tucana but I know that eight total exist. I'm sure they are all used.

Edit: Pavo is Peacock Tucana is Tucan. Also the last two are the Phoenix and Grus the crane.

So I got my first skill points. I want to be a Knight one with my main character. Do I need to max out the Sword Skill and dont care about the other ones?

Oh and I can create party members now! What kind of should I make? What job I mean?

As for your knight character, it depends, really. The game offers quite a few options in terms of character creation. You can create a tank-type knight as a straight-up gladiator, a mage knight by maxing out the sword abilities and then switching over to a mage, or you can be a healing knight playing as a paladin...or a hybrid of your own.

If you're unsure about what party members to recruit, I'd say to mix it up. If nothing else, make sure one of your characters is a priest. From there, you can kind of get an idea of how you want to shape your game.
