Hacking Downgrade Wiikey 1.9g -> 1.9b

I updated my wii to 1.9g when the beta update was just released, and it has worked perfectly until last week. Now it displays an error when I try to boot a game (tried with both backup and originals). Though it sometimes works so it makes me think it's something with the laser, or possible the 1.9g update, since I recall reading something about it making the chip more sensitive.

So I though I should try a downgrade but had no idea if it was possible in the first place, so I figured I should ask here.

Is it possible?

And if so, should I just download the 1.9b update, burn and run it, or do I need some kinda recovery disc?

You need a recovery disc.

Why not just take the 1.9b upgrade disc and install that?
