Bethesda announced a new DOOM game at this year's E3, and though details were minimal in the one minute teaser, more information was promised at QuakeCon 2018, which is taking place today. The new game, DOOM Eternal, which is a direct sequel to 2016's DOOM, received some screenshots, and new gameplay footage at the event, alongside a quietly announced version for the Nintendo Switch. There's no concrete release date at this time, but DOOM Eternal will be launching on the PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and now, Nintendo Switch.

Slayer 2.0

Unleash the overwhelming power of the DOOM Slayer. With updated armor and an arsenal of new and improved equipment, including a shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower, extendable blade, and a new dash ability, you’re faster and deadlier than ever. Destroy every demon in your path with an upgraded array of guns and mods, including the Super Shotgun’s new Meat Hook attachment to pull yourself point blank with the faces of hell.

Rip More, Tear More

Obliterate more demons than ever before, each with their own attacks and abilities. Fan-favorite classics such as the Pain Elemental, Archvile, and Arachnotron make their return, while a horde of totally-new demons join the roster including the DOOM Hunter and corrupted Marauders. DOOM Eternal’s “destructible demons” system takes your power fantasy to new levels by ensuring that every trigger pull has never felt better.

All-new Invasion

As the Slayer, allow real players to invade your campaign as demons for a dramatic and unpredictable twist anytime you’re playing the campaign. Or join the ranks of the damned yourself as you become a demon and invade a friend or other player’s campaign. Invade others either by yourself or with another player, as part of a hunting party, to give the Slayer a true taste of Hell.

We’re Not on Mars Anymore

Rip and tear across epic, never-before-seen worlds. Witness the tumbling skyscrapers of Hell on Earth; battle through an invasion of the mammoth BFG 10,000 on Phobos; and discover the ancient secrets of the DOOM universe. With idTech7, every environment is brought to life in unprecedented detail.

You can choose to play gung-ho as much as you can and want.

Not my point tho. Wasn't talking about "carnage"". Just like these M-rated characters, Doomguy can be made smash friendly and still be faithful to the character. Not that I think he is coming.
even using guns doesn't make metal gear a carnage centric game shooting g uy and the guy falling down shoing abit of blood is nothing ...

M rated doesnt mean a thing lots of games are m rated an all they do is use guns, the whole point of doom since the first is blood and gore with fast paced action if you took out blood and gore from doom the game would be pretty standard fps.

if you take out blood and gore from metal gear solid its still an amazing game full of secrets, sneak, weird as hell plots and such, same way for bayonetta take out the blood gushes and its still an incredible fun hack and slash full of great combos.

I was never talking about the carnage of the games. I was talking about the M rating.

Blood and gore aside, I feel like the fast paced action and arcade-like gameplay sets itself apart from other fps.

I'm just saying, if they really wanted to do Doomguy, I really doubt the lack of blood and gore would stop them.

I really REALLY enjoyed DOOM on the Switch. In fact, not being a casual console gamer, I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy myself, but the controls work out pretty damn well!
Granted, I know I could play the game much better with a keyboard and mouse, but it really is good enough, and the smeared 30 FPS doesn't really stand out to me that much because today's graphics are good enough pretty much no matter what.

That said, I was not impressed with the frame rate with the Wolfenstein release, though maybe updates have or will flesh that out soon.
With that in mind, I am skeptical that a DOOM release with more detail and added features is going to be able to run as good as the original. I am going to buy it to add to my DOOM collection regardless, but I am not expecting it to run as good as the first.
