you can still use in on a lower version to run the exploit on lower then 1.1.2
but no more sending, you must update to 1.1.2 to SEND letters

Doodlebomb sending is DEAD! You can't send/receive notes without updating. Updating kills Doodblebomb. Stop asking for Doodlebombs. No one can send you one.

I didn't think it would last that long since we were using Nintendo as middleman. Maybe there will be another hax/exploit for people on 11.4.

According to MrNbaYoh there is another exploit in swapdoodle, so we will see doodlebomb v2 at some point.
