There is a thread called technical discussion of arm9loaderhax - read that. Or read Plailect's guide (search google for arm9loaderhax Plailect guide) as it has some introductory comments.

Basically it is a way of exploiting the console before it has even started up, which means you can have CFW on an updated sysNAND.
 
It is synonymous with speed. CFW will but 100% of the time, and fast, unlike menuhax.
You get kernal access in literally milliseconds after boot. This allows amazing things like having a CFW with an updated sysNAND, loading Decrypt9(WIP), restoring a sysNAND brick without hardmod, etc.
