OK, so recently I have been playing a lot of games which involve me holding the wii-mote horizontally (megaman 9, tetris party, nes games etc etc).

Whilst playing them sometimes the controls lag and become out of sync.

SO I found out that the reason for this is because my left hand (whilst using the d-pad) is covering the IR SENSOR at the end of the wiimote....

Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me...

I've never had that happen, so it's more likely a problem with your wiimote. You might try a different one and see if it happens.

Yeah, I just tried another wiimote and it happened again...

Its really weird. It works perfectly I even walked out the room and the controls are still fine just as soon as I cover the sensor it just lags out.

That's odd, especially since none of the buttons communicate through the ir sensor, they go through bluetooth.

Do you have METAL HANDS? That would block the bluetooth signal. Just kidding. Do you think you might be pressing the power button at all? That might turn off the wiimote, desyncing it. I'm really not sure what's going on.

No it's just you. The IR camera on the wiimote is not used for virtual console games. Covering the IR camera only has an affect while pointing at the sensor bar anyway.

Try some new batteries or another wiimote as suggested above me.

Doesn't happen to me
Just tested it
Covered the sensor and had no difference
Even pointed away from the screen and still no lag

Hey, When i say IR sensor I mean the sensor on the wiimote, not the one that goes above or below you TV.

Cover up the sensor on the wii-mote totally and stand about 2 meters away from your wii and try and play a nes game or megaman9 or something.

i had the same problem... soon it will almost not work.. out of sync all the time, trouble resyncing, jerky pointer(hand) and so on....
i figured out that the problem was the bluetooth chip in the wii, i bought a new chip and swapped and it worked like a charm =)

i made a tread under hardware.. check it out!

sorry for my bad english..,

Tried playing Tetris party while covering the sensor ON THE MOTE and stood 5 meters away, behind a window, pointed away from the screen (while still covering) and still no lag!

This may sound like a ridiculous solution, but I would recommend going to your Wii settings, then senor bar, and confirm with the Wii that it is above or below your TV screen

as stated above by a few people....
the wiimote does not use the ir at all whilst playing any game
that you have to turn it on its side...
it uses the bluetooth...
try new batteries or another wiimote....

Yeah I have re-synced them over and over again.... really annoying!

Im genna bring it downstairs and try my wii out because it might be something in my room conflicting with the Blue tooth signal..

Really strange... It works 100% flawlessly if I am under a meter away from the wii but as soon as i start moving away it gets all laggy...

grrr

There's either a conflict, or your bluetooth adapter on the wii's mainboard is going out. Hopefuly for you it's not the latter.
