I've been trying for around 30 minutes with the right payload and it won't work :/. Sometimes it freezes, other times displays errors. Should I keep trying?

How are you activating it? I always just press A to "Check" Link's bed, 100% bootrate. But when I tried doing it using an item or Ocarina itself, I would freeze or get booted out far more often than a successful run.
