Want to unlock new japanese 3ds xl. Is changing the region means changing the menu language as well? Noob here

Yes but it is possible to change the language back to your native language.
I've a EUR EmuNAND (english) and a JPN EmuNAND (english).
You just need to replace the msbt-files inside of the System Menu CIA.
Your JPN System Menu will be english then.

Do you happen to have a tutorial or a link to how one could go about doing this? I'm tired of my JPN 3DS being unintelligible and don't care to risk a region swap solely for menu strings. Theoretically, this should also preserve user settings and data, right?
