so what? i have been talking about users with fixed boot1 which doesnt allow to install modified boot2
whats your point?

I got Trolly wrong, it looked to me as if he didn't understand neither what boot1 and boot2 are. This sounds different from what you tell now:

QUOTE(bin01 @ May 14 2009, 10:49 PM)
Most of people out there has boot1. What im saying is its designed for a relatevely small number of users, at least for now, yea of course when you install boot2 its the heaven and there is no doubt its better that preloader BUT the deal with bootmii is its IS SUPPOSED to load before anything else.... but what about those who can just install it as a shitty IOS...? it isnt fuctional for them, they keep watching the freaking warning screen just before the system menu... nothing happens I DOESNT DO WHAT I SHOULD FOR BOOT1 USERS dont you see it?

*sigh*

Another whining topic.

You don't even have the right to complain. Bootmii it's free and most parts are (or will be) open source. Something you don't like? Then STFU and change it yourself.

I have the impression that you don't even understand what Bootmii is and what it does.

You my friend, are an asshole.

Also, get your facts right:
QUOTE(http://wiibrew.org/wiki/BootMii#The_new_boot1)About 10% of the consoles that ran the BootMii Checker tool have the new boot1.

Are you, perchance, editing your original posts to make you look like you didn't say what you said? Just look at the time of the editings. You know, they have been quoted. You can't change them now you've been proved wrong and expect us to fall for it.

The boot1 fix came about halfway through 2008. Massive amounts of people bought their Wii console before then, the amount of people who have bought them since is obviously smaller. Plus, those who were keen enough to want to hack the Wii in this fashion are likely to have gotten their Wiis earlier. Besides, this is a beta, they're working on making it better for everybody. Now quit whining.
Unfortunately the number of people having exploitable boot1 remain constant, and unexploitable boot1 will only increase. Wii launch was Nov 2006, and boot1 was fixed in July 2008, that is about ~ 1.5 years. If we consider Nintendo having a constant production number of Wiis (which is also false, because the Wii has since been launched in other regions), the time that unexploitable boot1 has been used is fast approaching 1.5 years, and surely the number of Wiis that have the new boot1 will far surpass the number of Wiis that have the exploitable boot1.

Bin01: people like you,, just dont get it..

bootmii isn't just a 'preboot' rescue program..

how can i explain it to the thickheaded??.. how can we.. can anyone (that KNOWS about Bootmii) really explain it to ppl like him/?..

let's quote marcan (or TT for that matter)

The first thing that you need to realize is that BootMii isn’t a single application or hack - it’s a platform for hacks. Up until now, we’ve had little control over what software our Wiis truly run. Sure, we can run our own stuff, but ultimately we’re users of the system - everything we do has to go through Nintendo’s software.
...........

BootMii - let’s call it the BootMii platform - is about changing that. Instead of being users of the system, doomed to hacking our ways from the inside, we’re going to turn the tables around. Now we’ll have control and Nintendo’s software will have to go through us to do anything.

yes for all of us that CAN install bootmii in boot2 is way better... but even as an IOS you will be able to get ahold of the system and do whatever you please..

can you (and all you whiners out there) really grasp how great this is??..

if not.. you fail..

Simmer down, it's not like anyone knows exactly what the future will bring - the original exploits can't possibly be the only ones to a boot2 bypass surgery (not that I am even aware of anyone working on anything wii related, myself.)

If you truly want "100% bricking immunity", learn about NAND (and whatever other NVM is in a wii), make your wii's NAND socketable and use an external dumper that doesn't rely on code running from said system's NVM to work. Then email said dump(s) to a webmail account, put a copy on a disk in a UV impermeable sleeve in a safety deposit box, and then stash another copy under your friends porch in a fireproof lockbox. Or, just buy a wii, make sure it works and then leave it in it's box. 'Nuff said.

Anyhoo, moving along...

Dammit, you people suck. I've been waiting months for bootmii to come out, and it finally does (yes, I realize in a somewhat limited -code/feature wise- beta) I grab Twilight Princess, toss it in my 360 and nothing bloody happens! It can't even read the disk! It's bloody useless and I can't believe I waited for it or for that matter that anyone spent any time actually busting their sleep starved brains coding it!
Be grateful for the right reasons, not ungrateful for the wrong ones

Praise be to Team Twiizers for the hard work they have put in by reversing/engineering a replacement ?boot2? and interfacing directly with the hardware at such a low level, it's a heck of an achievement that. Being public and (eventually?) open source deserves gratitude, nothing less - even if it doesn't do what you want at the codes relatively young age.

"Waaaaaaaaah I jumped on the Wii bandwagon 2 years after everyone else after Nintendo fixed some exploits and now TT didn't cater to my every need with their first public beta release waaaaah. What? They said they'd work on the ios Bootmii more after they sort other things out? I DON'T CARE I WAN'T FULL FUNCTIONALITY ON MY NEW WII RIGHT NOW!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAHHH TT SUCKS AND FAILZ AT LIFE!"

Somebody call the waaaaahmbulance.

watch the "failing safety checks" mentioned in the readme are quite obviously looking for something in particular non safety related

like how many titles you have lol cause i keep trying to install bootmii and it black screens, wiimote unsyncs, and it requires a hard-reset and yeah im pretty sure my wiis older lol its like LU24xxxxx however many characters extra and the installer just refuses to boot up would my ios60 (im on 4.0) not having trucha be the cause maybe? it doesnt produce any sort of failure file
tongue.gif
or anything like that so yeah im kinda p'd off myself i was getting excited for bootmii

Chances are it's just your SD card. BootMii doesn't care about what you have installed on your Wii.

With BootMii, you can delete everything except boot1/boot2 from nand, and it would still be working.

kind of....if by working you mean it turns on and loads bootmii...if you deleted ALL IOS, you couldn't install ANY IOS back, because all wad installers, AND the systems native install run on IOS...therefore if you completely rape the wii of any IOS and sysmenu, for some strange reason, it wouldn't be a wii again, even with bootmii.

although boot2 probably has install capabilities, just they have not been used....? either that or every system starts with a basic nand flash programming of the stock IOS.

but see noobwarrior then you'd have your NAND backup to save the day lol so FenrirWolf would formatting my sd card maybe fix that? (my wad manager has been black screening on the same sd card actually) but not on my other one

exactly!....that and....why the hell would you delete all the IOS? oh man Im so f-ing pissed, i just gotta go let off some steam by deleting my wiis OS........oh yeah, that hits the spot.

PS: where'd the "who's on right now" at the bottom of the page go?

Perhaps. It couldn't hurt anything to try.

actually noobwarrior right now there is really no way of reinstalling an IOS.. except from restoring the NAND.. but after MINI is released (and a sample app) dont be surprised if we see a Bootmii compatible WAD Manager, or what i'm really waiting for is another OS for the wii xD.. *drools* ...

EDIT: yes, i mean it in the worst case that you rape your wii and leave it with no IOS and only boots bootmii

Im sure you mean in the stupid hypothetical situation I posted, because, yes, you can reinstall a IOS in other situations, as everyone knows.

oh yeah i meant in the hypothetical way you would rape your wii on an alcohol and xanax enduced rage...

having no IOS but bootmii..

ok still a no go with the formatted sd card i have no clue why its doing this? maybe cause i have cioscorp, maybe cause im on 4.0 lol i really don't see why the installer won't even start ive found it happen to other people (using google obv. xD) but still can't fit a fix for it

have you removed all usb devices and plugged in a gc controller and removed all gc memcards and taken out any discs and put the lotion on its skin?

I really have no idea, I havent installed this.
