With Android pay you simply hold your phone over the card terminal to make a contactless payment, like you would a physical credit / debit card.

Just ensure it's set as the default for Tap and Pay in your settings app:

I know that, but does it use the same methods as credit cards? I remember seeing a Linus video where he was looking for stores with the Android Pay sticker.

Yes it's pretty much universal, if they accept contactless payments Android Pay should work fine. My local supermarket just shows the generic contactless logo and Android Pay works fine.
