Wow at the amount of people with errors. I thought there was a small likelihood of something corrupting, but after 4 years of yanking them out and having no problems, I thought I was fine.

Only time I've ever had a problem is when my iPod was disconnected while music was playing, and the same for my former MP3 player. Both completely died when it happened. So I make sure that whatever device I'm using has at least had a minute since I've done anything with it, then take it out. Makes sense, saves time

15 secs should be enough too

I haven't had any corruptions from not using safely remove either.

Well, I "unmount". I wrote a nice little script which does a quick dosfsck on my MicroSD, and then unmounts it (aliased to umount /dev/mmcblk0), so I don't have to worry about FAT corruptions.

I really never safely remove my SD's or USB drives. I probably should but I'm just impatient I guess.

BTW for those of you who use or put up with windows Vista Sidebar you can use RD Safely Gadget "Remove Device Safely is what it entails. Looks pretty cool might be worth checking out, I saw it in a Windows magazine a couple months ago.

Always safely remove in Windows and eject in Mac OS X. I learned the hard way when something fucked up on my old USB stick and I lost all my school files (homework + projects).

I safely remove if it's important data. If i already have a backup then it depends hoe much of a hurry i'm in.

Also, If you don't safely remove, you might get her pregnant

(can't believe i'm the first one to pull a joke!)

I can't remember the last time I've safely removed a flash drive while in windows. I have, however, made a habit of doing so in Ubuntu
