Perhaps this could be stickied so it might get the attention of some of the noobs out there...

    DO NOT DELETE IOS!!!

No matter what anyone tells you, never delete an IOS (with the exception of 222/223/249/250 if system menu has not been modified to use them).
All IOS can be overwritten with a NUS update.
Deleting IOS will result in a brick if you do not know exactly what you are doing!
There have been way too many threads posted lately concerning noobs who deleted all of their IOS and are left with nothing to repair their systems with.

    DO NOT DELETE IOS!!!

    ***EDIT 1***
Edited to reflect WiiPower's point about deleting IOS249.

If you modified your system menu to use IOS249, deleting IOS249 is an instant brick too.

I tend to agree that this should be stickied because it would cut down the 'I bricked my Wii' posts to almost nil.

Well, if you know what you are doing its not so bad. I deleted more than a couple of Nintendo standard IOS and everything is fine (here are the results)!

This is a good warning for noobs. Although deleting IOS's can be safe if you have nothing that uses them. But you shouldn't be messing around with that at all if you aren't familiar with what IOS things need.

Exactly the point. If you know exactly what you are doing then have a ball. Chances are though, there is a much safer way to do whatever it is you think you need to do without deleting any IOS. There have been many threads that have the word "noob" in the topic where someone thought it would be a good idea to delete everything. All one has to do is use the SEARCH button to find a smarter way.

Yes, I agree 100%. This would help many users to not screw their consoles up!

This... this is like telling people not to drink the bottles of cleaner under the sink. If you have this little common sense as to need to be told, then you shouldn't be messing with the stuff in the first place.

    Very true.

Don't delete IOS............ I've had my experience where I unstalled all IOS from IOS9 to IOS60 and instabrick without recovery.

My experience was 200 dollars at my cost and I don't blame anyone but myself for not reading enough about Wii modding when I decided to do this stupid step.

Anyways, some we learn the hard way, others......... the read way.

some people just aren't smart enough to take the time to look up on how to do things properly.
even with this sticked, odds are we'll still see as many brick threads.
that's something we all have to live with.

Now now guys, we all started as noobs before we read up on information. It's not proper to assume that all noobs are illiterate or incapable of learning.
