Hacking Do new wiis have the update already installed?

I purchased another Wii for my cousin for xmas. It was purchased around Oct 30th... would Nintendo have already installed the update that prevents
homebrew? obviously i dont want to open the Wii because its a gift.

Doubt it, that wii will have been sitting on a shelf for who knows how long, and before that it would of been sitting in a warehouse.

But yeah, at some point I expect new Wiis would come pre-installed with the Oct 23 update.

i've jus got my hands on a brand new Wii i've gotta softmod for a family member and atleast here in the UK this one from CurryDigital...was running 3.2e for some reason.

Itll take a few months for them to get to the shops - you will be ok for now

Even if it did have the new 3.3 firmware on them, there's the new exploit for the homebrew channel and to re-downgrade.....Simple.
