Hacking Do new DS Lites have yellowish tints?

I have a black DSL. No problems, very very slight yellowing. It does smudge but as for the hinge, hell I am heavy handed, my step son is 100 times worse and it hasnt cracked at all. and n dead pixels either

I have no idea where you got a yellowish tint... Mine is fine ans i got the black one. Yeh it will smudge but what black object wouldnt. As for the hinge it happens because people are to hard with the ds. If you treat it as a gaming system you will be fine.

I have 3 NDSL in front of me.. Pink, Black, and Red/Black
Pink - No tint
Black - no tint
Black/red - There was tint, not on my replacement.

The issue i have seen about the tint problem happened alot with the early red/black ones. Mine is a refurb i sent off to get replaced and i got one back that doesn;t have the tint issue. But i can say that my room mate who also has a red/black one has the tint issue bad.

Again, it can only be seen on full white screens, but when you first turn it on, the bottom screen is yellow compared to my black one.. it seems to be mostly the viewing angle on them.. if i tilt the ds down a bit and look at it from a 45 degree down the screen looks bright and white..

i went through 6 ds lites this year. 3 red/black and 3 blue black. i wanted the red one badly but all three had yellow tints, the blue ones did not.

not only did the red ones have yellow tints, but they also had fewer spacer dots on the touch screen, so noticeably they were completely different manufacturers. the screen on the red ones were also less clear. they had that glistening effect of early lcd screens way back in the day.

i got all the DSs at the time the blue one got released from different locations.

I had a Pink DSL but the hinge cracked (and I'm super cautious with my stuff)

I exchange it for a Gold Zelda one and now I'm stuck with a green stuck pixel in the top screeen.

I wanted to exchange it again but I can't find Gold DS anywhere so I'll keep it!

You can send it to Nintendo and they will fix it for you.

Also, I dont think I have a yellowish tint, I have a pink DSL got it online from late January. But my brother said he noticed a bit of yellow, but I tried look at it and no, I didnt see any yellow.
I also use Hori Screen protectors.
No Dead Pixels in any of mine or friends DS's.

So far I don't have a cracked hinge, I also have a case on my DS though.I use this http://www.amazon.com/Brand-Nintendo-Lite-...6582&sr=8-6 the pink one.

Also, this 9-year old friend has a pink DS with a Hori case and I'm not sure if she has a yellow tint, because I never knew about them until today. And no dead pixels or hinge cracks.

Stuck pixels dont usually appear but if they do, you can search the forum for a program that can fix those stuck pixels.

Yellowish tints, never noticed it.

Cracked hinges, it depends on users. But last year, there have been news about a whole batch of DS Lites with cracked hinges. I had 2 Lites, no cracked hinges..

I owned and still own Onyx DS Lites, and i hate to burst your bubble but it does gets smudged with just your clean fingers touching it. You will see your prints and all. So i suggest get a DS Lite black, and get a protective transparent crystal case. You can see the interior color but the slight less smooth surface of the protective case will ignore smudges. You will have to wipe it off sometimes.

I was just wondering about replacement screens.
I have a Crimson DS and I'm very happy with it. The screens are good. The problem is that my gf bought a second-hand Black DS, and the screens, although not yellow, are pretty bad in comparison. They are not yellow, but blue. Very blue.
Anyone encountered this before? I was wondering if anyone has ever tried one of those replacement screens I have seen you can buy from different places. Are they any good?

I bought a Crimson/Black DS Lite from Amazon.com last month (and they sell out frequently so I know my unit was a recently produced one). In comparison to my Cobalt/Black DS Lite it had CRAZY yellow tints. So I sent it back.

When I buy a 2nd DS again...I am not sure what to get. I guess I may wait until they release another color or revision.

I have 5 DS lites,
1 white from launch which had a cracked hinge.
I had one DS with a yellow tint
and several with stuck or dead pixels.
My two newest ones seem to be perfect, either that of after craving perfections for so long and Nintendo dropping their quality control I just don't notice the flaws.

Regarding the cracked hinge due to people abusing the systems. That is very NOT true. Their quality has gone downhill greatly, DS Phat was a tank and a great build, I did actually drop kick my phat and it was perfectly safe. I take great care of my electronics and my DS lites have never been dropped, just opened a lot as I game a lot.

Also yes I agree about the D-Pad being crappy on the DS lites, some DS lites I own also have rattly volume knobs.

All mine are between launch date and 6 months ago.

I have two black DS lites. The one with the HIGHER serial # is on the left and the one that has a LOWER serial # is on the right. Higher serial means newer I think.

The newer DS has matching screens while the older one has different screens, HOWEVER the top screen of the older one is brighter, much brighter than the new one. I believe that is why you can notice it more.

For some reason my Gold Zelda DS Lite has the yellowish tint, even though it should be new. My original DS Lite from launch has the tint and a broken hinge.

I have had 6 DS Lites (5 White, 1 Black) since September last year, none of them have had tinted screens, none have had cracked hinges, one just stopped turning on, two had dead pixels, two developed nicks on the corners ( I didn't do it, they just appeared, turns out that the corners are hollow), and one of the ones with the nick on the corner had a fucked shoulder button.

Those were all white ones, I currently have a black one, no problems so far.
My brother got a ice blue one at Christmas, no problems with that one either.
The shoulder buttons on the white ones get really dirty fast, the blue ones not so much.

Actually, it's very easy to fix it. You just need to open the battery cover. Below the battery (you don't need to take it out) there are two small screws. Moving them shouldn't void your guarantee. Just twist them with a screwdriver until you get the normal color (while the system is on). Each of the screws is for one of the two screens. Painless and easy, just make sure you don't use a magnetic screwdriver, just in case.

I have seen the slow deterioration of a DS LCD for this reason exactly. The fact is, the yellow tint actually comes from a coating put on some (not all) screens used on the touch screen; changing the factory settings risks actually destroying your screen instead of just having a slightly tinted one.

Very easy to fix. Replace the screen and properly adjust it for the new screen... ok, not so easy. Though, I do suspect DS Lites are coming with some mal-adjusted screens (I've noticed random pixels drifting off color over time since I have had my lite.)
