Hacking Do I need to keep my DS fat?

Bought a 3DS but I read here EZVi or any other carts is unflashable (w/e that means), or something and it only works on DS/DSL/DSis?

It's the same issue as the DSi. If the 3DS won't run the cart, then it won't update the cart, so you'll need an older DS model to run the update.

Sorry should've cleared I already have updated to the latest just wondeirng if I should keep the DS fat for future upgrades or just sell/give it away.

The EZ-Flash Vi isn't unflashable. Just use the file in the link that Rydian provided to flash it to work with your 3DS.

I don't know if you can apply the update from the 3DS safely or not.

Keep your DS until the first update that attempts to block your cart. If you don't need your DS for that first update, it's likely that you won't need it for later updates.

DS/L is basically a updater tool now, something you pull out only when you have to update a slot1 flashcart if your primary portable is a DSi/XL/LL or 3DS.

That depends what brand of flashcart you own. I don't have to worry about that with a CycloDS iEvo.

You might as well keep it for future updates, and when your 3DS is dead and in the charger you could still play your ds phat.
