Is dawn of sorrow also broken on the latest release? 10 times out of 10 I get a white screen.
Should I get an older version then for now?
Addendum: I'm on A9LH with luma 7.0 if that's any help.

Using the Pictochat.app (renamed to .nds), copied from a DSi white-screens. Works fine a flashcart. It's minor, but I thought I'd report back.

being that pictochat's part of the DSi FW (os /etc) isnt it trying to enable Wireless on start? if thats the case then, thats your problem right there as Robz8 has mentioned in nds-bootstrap Wifi is still in TWL.

Did you try updating bootstrap, and setting Mario Kart DS as donor ROM?

Is your SD card formatted to FAT32 with 32kb cluster size?

fat32 yes but no idea if the cluster is set to 32kb,i used minipartition tool

Well, format with 32kb cluster, if it isn't.
