Politics ensures that people are divided and at each other's throats. I wonder why the owner of a forum about video games and technology would want this? Seems pretty malicious.
If you're talking about the existence of this subforum, the simple answer is ‘If it didn't exist, the discussion would be taken to other subforums.’ At least, with a dedicated subforum for it, you can hide the subforum for yourself so you'll never have to see it.

That's not the point. It divides the community. There are plenty of forums on the internet for politics. Go to a bird watching forum and start talking about the holocaust, see how many friends you make.

I don't think the powers that be care much for suppression of speech. At least by relegating it to a subsection of the forum, you can hide it from view. That's what I've done and my experience is better for it.

The politics and world news section was made for fair discussion.
While one individual user creates a thread - many users ultimately contribute to the discussion therein. In light of this,
please try to keep titles neutral and fact based. It's okay to state your opinions how you see fit in the body proper of your
opening post, but the titles should not be editorialized or overly sensational.
In the future please: 1. try to keep thread titles neutral and fact based
2. make it clear who or what is making a claim using words like "CNN claims" or "NY times reports"
Staff will not...
Every title should consist of an unbiased description of an event followed by a source, ideally in the title and the body of the post. Threads that do not follow this framework are not compliant and whether they’re acted upon or not depends on whether they have the potential to generate interesting discussion. As it stands, staff reserves the right to edit any such threads, or even close them altogether if they do not meet this requirement.
This, the Anti Fascist/Nazi topic, and the Political Disinformation & Propaganda topic are all a complete joke. All of this stuff happens all the time & little to nothing is done.

Considering your threads in the Politics section usually consist of one sentence with no attribution you should be the last person complaining about occasional leniency. Review your own output before criticising that of others, and if you do see non-factual threads, you know where the Report button is - you use it often enough.

You don't delete shit on this board. The only posts that ever get deleted are by DinohScene whenever there's a bunch of bickering between Hanafuda and whoever. I'd pay money to see you delete a thread posting right-wing disinformation.

That doesn’t make my one liners fake or factually untrue, so no leniency about that. You should be grateful I save you work (that you probably wouldn't do anyway).
On the other hand, there's been dozens "the shutdown is the democrats fault" nonsense posted around, to reference the latest events. Which is patently not true since the Republikkkans could end the shutdown unilaterally by virtue of their majority and well, here they are. not called out for being factually untrue.
Unlike you, my "job" here isn't to post referenced statements, I just need to make sure they are true to the best of information available to comply with the rules. Then, if you ask me nicely and I have the time, I'll post the paper trail.

Again, just the latest posts about the shutdown continuing somehow being a democrat responsibility when it can be ended unilaterally.
We’re not going to turn this topic into a political discussion about the continuing resolution, the voting record on that is publicly available. They do. I like to make my own judgements however, and not to rely on what others say, unless they're credible experts. If I'm wrong, I should be wrong on my two feet, not just parroting uncritically what another person said.
I didn't mean to, but you asked for one example and I provided it.

most people here are fine with people speaking their mind on this forum. even if there is disagreement their posts are still their posts imo. this site is awesome for gaming discussion. its people like you who come in and start talking polititics and then get out ur little book and start writing down names so you can snitch on them and attack them that is the problem.
you get satisfaction removing other peoples speech and that is something is wrong and i applaud the moderators for not bowing to your idiotic whining.
I don't post on the politics page. if it wasnt there ud be attacking me for gaming comments and doing the same thing outside of the box youve been put in.
you should be happy that they dont just ban everyone because with the way you want the rules to work were all guilty.
stop trying to remove peoples speech because you cant win a debate. if you dont like something debate it. dont try to remove others speech. thats just weak and people that do it should be called out. regardless of which position people take they do have a right to make their own opinions. ur opinion is no better than mine and no better than any one elses.

First: there's a big difference between posting disinformation and posting an opinion.
Second: yes, some opinions ARE better than others. Some are correct and some are not. I'm tired of entertaining the idea that we should respect and entertain all of them equally. We tried that, but then you used that to seize power. So we're done. You asked for a culture war, and you got it.

lol. seize power lol. ur basically saying u gotta seize power and ban people who dont think like u and ur talking about seizing power. people whining that other people have wrong opinions or wrong facts.
judge not yest ye be judged. most u people are just as bad as the people ur hating on. no one on this forum is space jesus and has some special opinion thats better than others.
were all just dust buddy. ur carcass is no different than mine in the sands of time we barely even exist.
but yeah in the billions of years of existence ur philosophy of attacking peoples speech and free will has never worked. banning people on forums was weak covid era stuff. most humans have risen above that level of subhuman views. censorship is for the weak. if ur information is correct posting a correction to someone elses information is good enough. force deleting other peoples posts or removing them for others is wrong. u can hide people on most forums. so if u dont like what they are saying hide them. but no hiding peoples comments isnt enough for evil people who claim they want to do good. u play ring around the rosie enough and ur going to get outnumbered by all the people ur claiming ur information and opinions are better than others.
its the if we cant beat em or control them we will remove them from social society mechanics of the weak. thats all u people are whining for.
give me the ban hammer because im too weak to read someone elses words and not get triggered.
lol childish mentality is what that is. grown ups laugh at this low level childish schoolyard bully censorship u people are whining for.
