Hacking Disadvantages/problems with DS One?

okay, i'm thinking of buying a new flash card and i've been eyeing up the Supercard, but what i want to know is ...are there any notable problems or disadvantages with the thing, particularly when compared to other carts? i know all about the positive side and all its features and everything, thanks to the official site and various supercard evangelists around the place, but is there anything else i should know about before i take the plunge? i'm only asking because i recently bought an acekard 2, which has a nice UI and the best skinning functionality i've seen on a flashcart, but still suffers from slowdown and incompatibility in some games (even with a japanese microsd card) which i heard nothing about until i actually started using the thing and poking around forums a bit more... so i don't want to make that mistake again.

the supercard is greattt! i had it for 2-3 weeks now, perfectly fine. HOWEVER, loading games can take between 7-10 seconds. That's the downfall while other cards takes 1-2 seconds to load the game. It's fine and I can live with it.

just to be nitpicky on the last comment

most cards do take around 3-4 seconds from my experience, however super card is still a fair bit slower as you said. it can be annoying.

if you install the TTDS menu hack, if you want faster loading you can load through TTmenu (assuming its as fast as the with original TTDS)

uhh well i have a supercard ds one and a M3DS simply.

Main differences are the load speeds.
I like the supercards site and apps they have on there etc.
If you want somethign to get the job done, get any cart really.
To my knowledge the incompatabilities are random games you would NEVER play anyways. so who cares?
2-3 second difference in load time isnt THAT much of a hassle.

In my personal opinion. Find whats cheaper and get it. Just stray away from M3DS Real or N5DS or any other cart thats been reported faulty and causing ds fuses to blow out.

Pros-
- Good hardware
- Lots of features, like RTS, RTG, Homebrew soft-reset, and slow-mo.
- The menu has a built in Moonshell, so you don't have to launch it everytime to do something.
- Great support from the team.
- Very cheap, even though it has the most feature in the flashkart scene.
- The cart feels strong, and doesn't feel like it'll break very easily.
- You can change to the DSTT firmware.

Cons-
- Loading games might take a few seconds longer than the other flashkarts.
- The menu is a little slow as well.
- The moonshell they currently use is outdated.
- Still somewhat picky with micro sds'.
- Might not be very easy for newcomers.

I've been using mine for 4 months. THe spring is still fine.

And I prefer spring over no spring.

No. It's definitely a pro. I've had my SCDS1 for over a year now, and the microsd spring works just as well as the first day I got it. I like not having to eject the SCDS1 from the DS to get the microsd out. As long as good springs are used in flashcarts(unlike R4's/Simply's), then this is never a con in my opinion.

Menu being slow is bullshit that a lot of people claim. The only time it's slow is if you have large ICOs. With no/small ICOs I notice no lag whatsoever being just as fast as my R4, and M3 Real, if not a little more so.

It's fine for newcomers if they make sure that they look right, saying it's not 'retard-friendly' would be a better choice of words, as your IQ would need to be fairly low to not understand how to get a game working with it.

As for spring loaded, I can pull mine out (no spring) without a problem, and I'm fairly sure SDHC is springloaded as well? I have no real preference here, it's not really a con or a pro though.

Exactly. People buy flashkart for features, support, and gaming.

As long as the GUI is decent, (Which IMO, is actually right, but slightly lags. No biggie) I'm fine with it.

I've like posted in every other thread possible about this thing. But other dthan that, its one of the best cards out there.

I have to pretty much guess what the cheat says lol. Also, having to download an individual .scc cheat file for my games is annoying.

The touch screen controls could have been calibrated better.

The Moonshell is still outdated.

And my connector pins (whatever those things on the SCDS-1 connecting it to the DS are called) seem to be faulty as they aren't recognized 25% of the time

Other than that, it's a fine card. Btw, I'm using the original card, not the SDHC version.

About the cheat files, it's not that bad. I mean, it may be a little annoying, it's not something really annoying.

Also, yes, the touch screen controls should be fixed. It's not fully accurate, and is a bit slow.

As for the moonshell, I believe Moonlight has refused companies from making GUIs based on moonshell, thus the teams that uses the moonshell as their gui, cannot upgrade. This is just something I've heard, and something I cannot confirm, but it sounds fairly convincing.
