Gaming Disable Simcity DS advisor

Is there any way to disable the advisor and minigames in Simcity DS? It's really annoying having it pop up every 30 seconds with some rubbish like Santa coming to my town, or a saga about how a kid wants more parks.

I just want a portable version of Simcity and these "additions" spoil the game.

Unfortunately, no. I was hoping SimCity 2 would make it to the US, in hopes that the silly advisor would be gone, but I'm pretty sure it never did.
