Conjuring up memories of the classic Destruction Derby by Reflections studio is the latest entry to the popular DiRT franchise by Codemasters -- DiRT Showdown. Crash, bash and smash your way to victory using a wide selection of trucks, cars and even hearses! The latest work in progress video (embedded above) is titled "Massive Damage", and showcases two of the destructive modes.

In Rampage, eight players (yes, online, or split-screen local play, which is quickly becoming a rarity these days) compete in gladiator style arenas, earning points for the most spectacular smashes. In Knock Out, drivers use their vehicles as weapons to force their opponents off a raised platform. Points are earned for knock-outs, hits, and dominating the ring alone. Players can re-enter the arena by racing up ramps and jumping back onto the platform.

DiRT Showdown features racing events, demolition derby events and hooligan events. Send your fans wild in huge stunt parks -- pyrotechnics, lasers and thousands of fans put the player centre stage in a vibrant sports entertainment atmosphere. Over 50 events across four championships, featuring sun, snow, rain, day and night.

DiRT Showdown will be available in May 2012 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
