Off my experience Toshiba didn't work with DM for me but ever since I got a 500GB WD (Western Digital) I couldn't be any happier (unfortunately though WD isn't compatible with the PS3 so when I bought a 1TB WD one for my PS3 thinking if it was good for the Wii it must work on PS3 since it natively supports USB, how wrong was I :P )

Anyway I heard Seagate is good too and many recommended it but I never tried it, LG worked fine with me only it likes to sleep A LOT, lazy bitch, so I replaced her with WD instead and things been great, just don't get a Toshiba because while some reported it worked I can confirm that at least mine didn't!

As far as seagate, they were good in the past but apparently will no longer be in the future

as it appears they will no longer be producing any new models of any size without 4k sectors (4k sectors are what makes all 3tb drives incompatible.)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and thanks for the heads up :D Crap I'll have to see if I can find an older Seagate 2TB drive that's still compatible. If not then maybe your thread Maxternal is my last hope. Are there any 2 or 3TB HDD's compatible with DM listed?

No drive significantly larger than 2TB will work well with DM.

a) DM only supports 512B Sectors
b) DM only supports MBR
c) DM can read only the first partition

MBR uses 32 bit sector adresses
a MBR patrition can be 2^32 sectors long at most and must start before the 2^32th sector
with 512B sectors both boundarys are 2^32*2^9 B = 2^41 B = 2 TiB
you MIGHT get drives <= 4TiB to work with multiple partitions but DM will only read the first one

PS: The 2TB drives you can buy are actually a tiny bit larger than 2TB.
But 2TB (2*10^12 B) are only 90% of 2TiB (2*2^40 B) and thus work fine with those constraints.
(note that windows take the TiB value and calls it TB, causing confusion)

Could Someone give me an update reguarding DM's MultiDisc support?
Does 2.9 have proper multidisc support working without breaking 1 disc support?
I've been using DM2.5 this whole time for my 1 disc games, so I was curious as to which DM I should use for My 2 disc games.

Anyone? Please? lol

Alright, just to confirm and make sure, I did as Cyan said again, and I put in the clean mios v10, played a retail game for like 10-30 minutes and I had no error message or any problem playing. THEN after that, I installed dios mios 2.9. played a backedup iso game that did worked before my issue, after around 10+ mins, i get that disc error message..so im still having this issue... is it because something in 2.9 screwed up something else besides the multi disc thing?

also a question related to wii lens, IF it was tired and such, would I need to replace it? Or could i juse use that wii cleaning kit and it should work fine?

Sorry if i sound like im repeating myself Cyan, I wasn't sure if you saw my last post earlier ...

Newbie suggestion: drive spindown?

I dont quite understand what you mean by that, by if you mean my 2TB harddrive spindown, it never happened before when I play dios mios before I started to have the disc error issue)

but if thats the case, is there a way to stop the spindown issue? isnt it basically like going in the device manager and ticking the spindown option off? or it works differently?

Try Dios Mios 2.5. 2.6+ are known for being kind of buggy sometimes.

You are playing from a backup/retail disc, or from an ISO on your USB when you have the read error ?

If you use a disc, make an ISO.
if it's already an ISO, Rydian is probably right here. Though, DM added anti-spin down (checking the USB every 30sec or less). Maybe it's broken in 2.9 too?
Try with DM 2.8, or try with DML, SD card doesn't have this problem.

To disable the spin down, you need a software from your HDD maker (seagate have one pre-installed on the bought drive, WD should have one too).

Resident Evil Zero is the only game I can't get the swapdisc to work for. Always returns a typical GCN error screen.

Edit, gonna try DM 2.6. I'll get back with the results.
EDIT: tried it, no cheese. Still error screen.

Its already an iso....well actually its an iso, converted using the discex thing

I dont think its the spindown though.. because if it was the case, wouldn't my wii games stop working right too then? because I dont have any problems with the wii games, or my ps3 games either since they are in the harddrive too. I tried 2.8 last night and that didnt work either. I'll tried 2.5 as cheatfreak suggested though and that didnt worked either.

Also, I am using an internal harddrive that has a closure put in (you know like buying an internal and then buying those external enclosure thing)..So I dont think there is a software...unless WD has a software for any kind of harddrives..

Hopefully when dios mios 3.0 comes out, all those bugs people kept talking about get fixed...

Sorry for late reply, was away from the DML topic for a while (busy with QF :p)

To answer your question simply, DM(L) 2.5 works fine with most games except no MultiDisc support, DM(L) 2.6 added that feature and broke many games in return, 2.7, 2.8, AND 2.9 are nothing but fixes to those games that were broken from 2.5 to 2.6, 2.9 seems to fix these games but broke MultiDisc again.

So in short, DM(L) 2.9 almost does everything DM(L) 2.5 does, however there's a mod of 2.9 that fixes MultiDisc if you're interested!

Looks like you're having the very same issue I had with DM 2.3 to 2.5, HDD going sleep, try installing DM (LITE) instead and see if the game works fine or not, if it works fine then it's definitely your HDD going sleep, some HDDs are just that sleepy like my LG 500GB HDD, do yourself a favor and get a WD one instead then disable sleep, it will save you ALL the trouble.

P.S. Wii games never go sleep so don't bother mentioning this again, just try DM Lite and run said game from the SD, see if it gives you the same error or not!

I got an internal WD drive thats been put in the nextstar enclosure, is there a way to disable sleep for Internal WD drives? I've check the WD site for downloads but havent found any.

also, you say theres a 2.9 mod? I would like to try that out before i go to DM lite

Okay I tried the Dios mios lite 2.9 and 2.5, being more compatible with stuff. And I STILL get the disc error... welp atleast now I know theres nothing wrong with my HDD :D... but still...that means its the lens needs to be replaced then? or could I get that wii disc cleaner and it should work fine?
