So did you do a "-a" or "-c" with DiscEx and your image? I have had a few require -a (from what i remember) and I was using current version at google code hosting.
Not sure what you mean. I just did a drag and drop of the ISO onto DiskEx.

I would run it from a command prompt (or create 2 shortcuts from DiscEx / one with -a and one with -c if you prefer to drag and drop) and try each of them, -a should work for you on true clean rip.

so it's best to use clean rip iso b4 convert to use with dios mios??
what is 1:1,does it mean clean rip iso?
CleanRip creates 1:1 ISO rips.

To be more specific:
- 1:1 ISO rips are 100% identical to what's on the disc, including the "waste" content to fill up the space to reach 1.4GB (disc size)
- DiscEx can edit and shrink these 1:1 rips so you have smaller files (

You can take the already shunken ISO and just name it "game.iso" and put it in a folder in your /games/ folder and it should work fine (although it might not work if you're using xNEEK+DI)

You can also use GCIT which is a GUI that can convert to AND from GCReEx, DiscEX, Scrubbed full sized ISO, or Trimmed (AKA shunk or "compressed") ISO image.
GCIT is one of my faves to use and can't wait for it's eventual merging with WBM. Though I still end up using Crediar's tools most often.

Dios Mios Lite v2.2 has been updated yesterday (august 13) (it's a v2.2 *update x*, not a 2.3)
It fixes the problem that most users encountered : black screen at launch and no logs.

Don't look at the "upload date" on the download page, it's not reflecting the real date.
just download it again if you have black screen with your current DML v2.2

I don't know what was changed (included sources are the same, just without compiled objects, and a previous date)
Anyway, thanks to Crediar again.

I converted a large library to GCReEX right off the bat which might not have been a good idea but I've tested about 10 games so far and 8 have worked, so whatever doesn't work I'll just use DiscEX or a 1:1 ISO rip if necessary. Thanks for the input guys.

You could try messing with the NoDisc+ patch option or just leave a disc in the drive (I leave Eternal Darkness in as it is an audio streaming game and the music/sound is such an important part of it).

Unfortunately, a "cleanrip" rip doesn't work, using DiscEX doesn't work, and I haven't tried GCReEX but MassiveRican said it didn't work so I'm probably not gonna try it.
I'll try the NoDisc+ patch but has anyone on DM2.2 actually played Xmen1 or 2??? I know it works on DML but, USB is better. ;)

Don't multi-pyramid-quote please.

Also, the "NoDisc+" setting is required for ONLY ONE game : Pokemon stadium.
(at least, that's the only one we know. if using noDisc+ with another game make it works, let us know)

Is it true to say that a Wii disc must be inserted to play *all* GC games with DM 2.2 (latest)?

I'm using cfg-loader-mod r45 and all Wii games are working perfectly. When I load GC games, it shows the DIOS MIOS logo, then freezes.

Crediar doesn't like rehosting of his files, to prevent old versions still being available online.
And if I rehost it, it will also counter his revenue system, and I don't think he will be happy.

But I agree, this is a crappy host!
You need to wait 1 hour before downloading a second file :(
wait 30sec is acceptable, 60min is exaggerated.

Ok i've gotten to the root of the problem (DM not booting at all, no splash screen) but i can't seem to fix it. I can't even get retail games to work now, just a black screen. I also can't uninstall the required files for DM (miosv10, bc06, DM wad files) since it gives me a ret -1017 error. Anyone have any solutions to this?

Have the WAD Manager run under IOS 249 to be able to UN-install a WAD file.

249 doesn't mean anything, it all depend on the base IOS he has in that slot.
old wad managers required IOS36/38, which IOS249 usually had.
if he has d2x, chances are it doesn't have a base 36/38 in 249 and thus an old manager won't work.

the solution is to use another wad Manager (Wad Manager 1.7 , Wad manager 1.5 GUI for cIOS18+ , or any manager which use AHBPROT)

Thanks that fixed my retail games, but reinstalling all 3 wads still didn't fix my black screen on DM :(. Thanks for the fast reply.

reinstalling all 3 wads
DM replaces MIOS10 and visa versa You can't have both of them installed. Try just installing the DM WAD and see if it works. It SHOULD work for retail games, too.

Neither retail or DM works with the DM wad installed. Would posting a log file help identify the problem? If so how would i go about doing that? Also here is my external model if it helps any.

It would help, but you need a USB Gecko to record the logs.

Which version of DM(L) are you using? DM 2.2 update 2 ?
Which loader are you using?
Where are located your games? (SD/usb?)
Which format are the games? 1:1 iso, compressed, aligned, extracted?

What happens when you launch them ? black screen before the splash screen but the Wii is still powered?

I don't have a USB Gecko, that's a shame :(
DM 2.2 update 2
Cfg USB loader 70r45
Located on usb drive
My iso files are shrunk with GCMUtility, but i've also tried DiscEx as well with the same result. I've tried a fresh uncompressed iso dump too but i get the same result.
I get a black screen before the splash screen and the system remains powered. I have to do a hard reset to reboot the console
