does pso only work if you put the memory card in slot 2? its the only thing i havent been able to try because i cant find my memory card anywhere lol

I can confirm with version 1.01 of PSO that it works. However, if you choose "yes" on the calendar prompt, it will black screen. As long as you say no the game will load. The date was fine for me so no need to hit yes again.

Not a bug in DM. PSO tries to boot into that old GC menu that doesn't exist in Wii anymore. Also you need Pad-Hook patch on to make it boot (atleast for me). Tested with DM Booter rev29.

whats the pad-hook patch? is it the same as turning on the pad hook setting in usb loader? what other settings do i need to change?

Launching games with USBGX is still not perfect and games either blackscreen or the Wii Shutdown.
I tried different things but I didn't find the reason yet.

Edit:
DMBooter has the same (Random) problems.
My Wii shutdown when DM is booting. Maybe the HDD has a problem? It's correctly set as primary active. It has 32k 16k cluster (it hangs on HDD detection, nothing to do with cluster size, right? and DM works fine once the HDD is detected and mounted). It's working fine with all other homebrew, even neek when I used it, but I didn't used it a lot so I can't be sure it didn't have that problem too as it's random.
GX, DMBooter and Wiiflow can see it and boot wii/gamecube games without problem, but DM often don't see it and ends either in a reset loop or just switch off the console. chkdsk found no problem.

This log show the Wii Shut down, using DMbooter r29 booting an ISO:

Not a bug in DM. PSO tries to boot into that old GC menu that doesn't exist in Wii anymore. Also you need Pad-Hook patch on to make it boot (atleast for me). Tested with DM Booter rev29.

So even a retail PSO disc won't work on the Wii?

  • Baten Kaitos PAL -> Doesn't work, the player cannot start the game
  • Baten Kaitos Origins -> Doesn't work, the player cannot start the game
  • Prince of Persia Warrior Within PAL -> Doesn't work, game doesn't start
  • Prince of Persia TTT PAL -> Doesn't work, game doesn't start
  • Animal Crossing PAL -> Doesn't work, after DIOSMIOS Logo greenscreen
All tested with wiiflow and diosmios booter and the newest release.

Make sure you don't have a memory card in slot B for Baten Kaitos, if you do it will black screen when pressing "new game," however with the slot b empty works perfect.

Really???
I am using both slots for mem cards. ^^

Oh man, this is good to know.

Anyone knows if there is a way to get Spyro: A Hero's Tail running properly? With DM 2.2 (most recent update) and DM Booter r29 it boots up fine (the game didn't work on any other version of DM for me), I can create a save (using a real memory card, not NMM) but as soon as I want to start my game on that save, it freezes shortly after the first cutscene kicks in with a buzzing noise. Before anyone asks, I tried with and without a disc in the drive. The settings are the default ones, so no widescreen, cheats or other factors involved. I tried it once with pad hook activated, but then it wouldn't even show the DM logo and just blackscreen after choosing the game from the list. The original iso was already trimmed, so all I did was convert it with gcreex to fst format without trimming it again. I know some games have problems when being trimmed / modified, but since spyro isn't listed as such I assume that's not the problem (or it just wasn't tested). So if anyone got the game running (preferably the PAL version, since that the one I have) beyond the first cutscene, maybe that person could post their settings like which loader was used, what options were set and the like. In the mean time I will try to find a save from beyond the first cutscene or a clean, untrimmed iso of the game and see if that changes anything. Help is apreciated.

It's correctly set as primary active. It has 32k 16k cluster
There we have the problem, crediar said it needs to have 32k to work properly ;)

According to his (Crediar's) Google code page on the FAQ, "Only cluster sizes 32KB or less are supported." So in theory, wouldn't 16k clusters be supported as well?

Just updated DIOS-MIOS Booter to r30, changes:
-fixed autoboot feature
-moved settings into a new folder, dm_booter, on device root
-added titles.txt, on boot it will automatically write in all game titles, you can then modify them on your pc to the ones you want to have
-added new no disc patch of dios mios 2.2
-changed default config of dm booter which will be used if no config is found
Get it on google code ;)

Thanks for asking him.
I guess I'll format it then.

d.d.d : well, 16k works, but maybe it has problems as it's randomly working. Or it's just my HDD which is dying.

Edit:
I tried another HDD, fat32, 32k cluster.
Same result. so it's not my HDD nor the cluster size. Could be my Wii? It never had any problem with all other homebrew (cIOS/ahbprot/IOS58/neek).

Hey, no the titles are a bit different, the place is the same than the cfg, in the new folder, you may check it out and see if you can somehow get gametdb ones to work, I just dont like the spaces in the gametdb titles.txt, that may makes problems.

I have this same problem, random shutdowns when I boot a game. No logs to provide, I've just been putting up with it. My setup sounds like the same as yours, NTSC-U though. I stay pretty busy but if anyone needs some help I'd be glad to do some testing when I can.

Another user has this Shutdown problem too.

Also, I just got a new log I never had.

I'm not sure what my problem is, but I can not install Dios Mios wads above 2.2.0. Any other wads (such as update 2.2.1+) always fetch me an error -1022. I've tried from usb and sd but no such luck. Anybody have any ideas?

Change the cios your using to install the wads to something else.
