Mario Kart Double Dash PAL runs perfectly fine here, no issues just the regular menu slowdowns. Not even sound errors!
Hmm. It gets more interesting by the minute.
Are the slowdowns a function of reading from the SD card or simply something that might be addressed through code over time?
What is the maximum SD card size that will be supported with this method?
I'm thinking a 32GB one can fit quite a good amount of shrunk games, if they will be compatible.

Well maximum SDHC size, should be 32GB. Yeah the slowdowns are parts where things are loaded like in mario kart last lap or from title to menu. I have a sandisk 8gb sdhc class 4 card here and I can live with the slowdowns perfectly fine.

Thanks. I intend to stay on top of this project but I keep asking about the slowdowns because I would rather load from DVD+R than living with slowdowns. This is just my personal preference, given the two options. I don't mean to belittle in any way the awesome work everyone is putting into this.

If you're unsure of how to get games in the proper format, look at a guide from the Sneek+di version of DML and that should get you started.

Link to the correct place, please? Thanks!

Edit: Got them in the correct format, now where do I place them on the SD card?

Well, I'll just quickly get you going since it's easy.

Download DiscEX Here: http://code.google.c...ed.rar&can=2&q=
Drag 1 Gamecube ISO on DiscEX.exe and wait for the process to finish. Then put the folder it churns out into "Games" folder on the main directory of your SD card. Keep in mind you need a disc (Can be any game, might not even need to be a game) in the Wii's disc drive and it should launch no problem.

Thanks!

Edit: It looks like it has to be a game disc. I have to go buy one, so is it better to use an original Wii game disc or an original GC disc?

You can even use a backup disc. I had a backup of Melee in the drive and it worked fine. This is assuming you have an older wii of course.

Nope. I have a black Wii. The Blockbuster down the street should have some used Wii shovelware titles for sale for pretty cheap. I'll just go grab one of those in a bit. Don't really know why, as I play GC games on Dolphin just fine. I guess I just love playing around with stuff. :)

I think it may need to be a GC disc to work. I think when I tried it earlier the Super Smash Bros. Melee disc worked but the Wii Play disc did not.

I'm really looking forward to the day when DML is a general purpose MIOS - I can't justify keeping it installed permanently until it can run retail games. I'm glad that such significant improvements have been made, and experimenting with it has been fun.

I tested DML and it worked perfectly with the games i've tried so far. But one particular game had me confused... Resident Evil 2 had some lag issues and audio issues, playable, but really annoying.

I wanna know if some of you would try it out and maybe you have the same problems and I also wanna know if mi SD card is wrong, I have a 4GB kingston microSD formatted in fat32 with 32kb clusters, 'cause I really tried but i could't format it to 64kb.

Can someone clarify this? Can I use an original Wii disc? Or does it have to be an original GC disc? Remember, I have a black Wii.

I tested with a few discs.

EDIT:

Retail GC disc: Boots
Backup GC disc: Boots
Retail Wii disc: Stack Dump Error
Backup Wii disc: -
Blank DVD-R: "DVD+R/bad burn/ DL problem?"
No Disc: Error "No disc inserted"

When using DML through SNEEK a few months ago I did not need a disc inserted to boot Super Mario Sushine.

Well, i need to change NeoGamma to accept Wii discs as well for DML. But i don't know yet what nasty checks some games might have to check if there's a disc in the drive or not. And the info like "game X needs a disc in the drive" would cause lots of lots of confusion.

I'd rather it be left alone, than to have it cause other issues. Going to buy a used copy of Eternal Darkness. :)

I don't see a way how the games would detect that there's not a wii disc in the drive. For that they would need to read the data with unpatched functions, and if they do that, they are not compatible anyways.
