my bad! I wasn't sure what the process is called, but I'm using the DM toolbox, taking an iso. letting the tool do its magic, then copying over the Entire folder onto my USB. So right now my ISO is located in USB:/games/GAMEID/game.iso. Also running DM 2.10, however I also installed 2.6, and can't uninstall 2.6 now.

I'm not familiar with DM Toolbox, I've never had to use it. And there's only one Mios slot that you can install to which means when you install a new Mios it automatically overwrites the pre-existing one, so there's no need to uninstall.

Did you end up getting anything working? If not, I'm sure what else there is to do. I can't help with setting up WiiFlow because I'm not familiar with it. I use USB Loader GX.

Thank you for your advice, but I'm not using a cable, I have a USB Drive and an SD Card.

Yes, I'm talking about the cable/cord that connects your usb drive to the Wii. Unless, do you just mean a thumbdrive? If thats what you mean, than yeah, what I was saying isn't gonna help. If you're talking about a USB hard drive though then my answer may pertain to you.

I've had issues with dmtoolbox in the past i've experienced that no matter what game I throw at it I can't get them to boot but if I use discex v0.9 with the -c argument I can compress my games and get them to boot I have a package of batch files I made for discex 0.9 if you'd like I can send you the link and you can try that and see if it works for you.

An easy setup for my batch script to work without having discex in the same folder would be to copy discex.exe and all the .dll files it comes with to "C:\Windows\System32\" ,Discex is a command line utility but really easy to use, but by doing this you can throw my batch script in "USB:\games\" you will then be able to drag your gamecube iso over top of any of the batch files which ever one you please I use the -c batch script myself and it will convert the game to the proper format and store it on the drive instead of storing it on your computer, I look at this method as turning discex into something like WiiBackupManager, straight forward and simple. you cannot however use multiple iso's at once but you can open multiple processes of discex using these batch scripts

So say you drag game1.iso to the -c batch after it starts you can the drag game2.iso to the -c batch script and you'll have 2 command line windows running converting both games this however does make the processing a tad bit slower for both process so it's not recommended it's more a less a method used if you are transfering lots of iso's to a hard drive and don't want to sit there and wait to do one after the other.

also another thing USB Loader GX 3.0 Beta 1218 has support for dm and dml with options for compressing the games during install or 64kb alignment during install these options use the same code as discex 0.9 I believe because I have gotten the same results from both software's

Yeah, I meant a thumb drive, apologies.

No, I didn't, but AcidFlare gave me an idea. I'm going to try a different tool to "change" the ISO, instead of DM toolbox, then I'll report back.

Honestly, I think you guys are over-complicating things by messing with the ISO's. Whether I would download mine, or back them up directly from my own discs, the raw version of the ISO's worked perfectly every time. The only reason I used to mess with DiscEX and GCReEx is because I would read it in a guide somewhere and "thought" that I NEEDED to use those apps to make the ISO's "better." Which is ridiculous. How would it make them better? It's not adding information to the file to make it more compatible. The raw dump is already the most complete form of the disc.

When there's a problem with getting ISO's to work, it's almost NEVER the ISO's fault. Messing with the ISO to get a game to work is like messing with your cars fuse's because one of the break lights doesn't work. It's trying to solve the problem by messing with something that's not broken.

I'm willing to bet that this whole issue is being caused by your storage device. Even after you've formatted the device correctly you can experience incompatibility issues with Dios Mios and certain storage devices. The issue is common enough that it has a dedicated thread. http://gbatemp.net/threads/post-the-model-of-hdds-youve-used-with-dios-mios.344522/

My advice. Try a different storage device. Stop messing with the ISO's. And check to see if your Wii's cIOS's are up to date.

actually discex's -c argument is good because a game that is say roughly 900MB or 600MB in a regular it's still 1.35GB so really why wouldn't you want to use this it's like saying converting your wii iso backups from iso to wbfs is a bad idea

Agreed. If storage space is an issue, then yes it would be a good idea to remove dummy data from an ISO. And if GC ISO's were as reliable on the Wii as .wbfs's are, then I'd tell him/her to go right ahead. But the truth is, we're all aware of the random issue's that people have experienced, whether it's on Devolution or Dios Mios, while trying to play compressed GC ISO's.

With that said, we should all try to focus on getting the raw dump ISO's up and running FIRST (with some relative consistency) before we go and confuse things by adding more potential problems to the list of issues his/her configuration might already have.

Once he/she gets raw dumps working, then the next step (if he/she chooses) would be to compress them. Compressing the ISO's is NOT a requirement in the process to get them working. So it shouldn't even be considered until he/she can actually get them working.

you do have a point there. But he could always go and install dml 2.10 and use a seperate SD card that's what I did before I got my drive working
download and install this partitioning software it's what I used to get my drive working with DM http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html

the create the partition of your usb drive to fat32 then right-click and format the partition to a 32KB cluster size click ok then right click the partition again and make it the primary partition and set it to active as well, hit apply in the top row of the GUI. To test out your drive to see if you have formatted it correctly which if you followed my instructions you should be create a new text document in the root of the drive open the text file press the spacebar then save and close, right-click the text documents and go to properties it should say 32KB allocated on disk for the text file if so you are ready to go and make your /games/ folder with your iso folder in it, Good Luck!

Thought i'd jump on this too, since I have issues with my USB HDD with dios mios 2.10. I cannot get it to boot any game, black screen, no splash. Cios's are up to date, tried 236 and 249 installs, with USB loader GX and DS booter, no luck. The drive works perfectly with Clean Rip images with Devolution r200 and with Wii ISO's, yet I'm starting to wonder its not compatibile with dios mios since reading about certain HDD's dont work and especially if you get black screens and no dios mios splash screen.

You can try my methods I use to get the same issue until I formatted to fat32 32kb cluster size and set as primary active and I haven't had any problems since then

My drive was already fat32 32kb cluster size. Just tried dios mios lite with the same isos and they booted 1st go using an SD card instead, so the issue is with the HDD, even though devolution and wii backup managers work fine with it.

I've had DML headaches as well in the past. DMLr53 it was i believe worked just fine for me. But no matter what newer revision I tried none of my games worked. Tried every new version and every loader, so many different settings. People tried to help me, went back and forth, problem was never fixed. Still using DMLr53 to this day. But all my games work so I guess no harm done.

Yeah, set it active with EaseUS partition manager and reinstalled dios mios 2.10 wad. Still a black screen, no splash using my USB HDD on the isos that worked on dios mios lite with a SD card.

Kinda give up now and accept its a hdd compatibilty issue with the dios mios app.

did you try to format the drive with easeus PM? that's what helped me I had formatted it with gparted in ubuntu liveDVD at first and I couldn't figure it out for the longest time then I recreated the MBR with gparted in ubuntu LiveDVD then I started windows booted up EaseUS PM and finished it from there and I had it working you may be able to get it to work doing this

but if you are going to go using and SD card I would recommend using DiscEx my batch scripts make it way easier to use as well as making it drag and drop to copy and compress the disc image.
I can make a seperate script that installs discex 0.9 and it's dll files to the windows\system32\ folder so discex be used globally now matter what directory the cmd.exe is pointed too.

That would be cool, yet I'm not too keen and using SD cards for isos, as I tried the lite version to see if it worked. My setup now is using Devolution r200, which I can use on the WiiU for originals I own, if I wish along with Wii ISO's using backup managers.

If I use the Wii console separately , I don't want to keep swapping out SD's cards just to use dios mios for certain games, as I prefer to have it all on one USB HDD, which currently works on both WiiU and Wii, except dios mios USB loading.

And yes, I used easeUS to format the whole drive before I used it.

also another thing I noticed with Dios-Mios it's not the hard drive that it doesn't like or work with it's actually the USB controller the hard drive is plugged into that causes the issues

So would using a Y cable work on the Wii if I try that, as I didn't think to try it. I use the Y cable on my WiiU since the USB ports dont draw as much much power than the regular Wii does and just use the standard USB cord that came with the HDD on the my standard Wii. Its an old 250Gb WD portable drive that does not use its own PSU.

Update:

Still a black screen and no dios mios splash using the Y cable
