Hacking Different Wii drives?

could some one help me understand the different wii drives and what ones wont play backups and what ones do. a website would be awesome?

basically, recently i took the drive apart and fixed the loud humming noise by adjusting the flywheel screws on the back of the DVD drive, and still tbh it didnt really help the GC backups with the 10 minute play then a disc read error.

so im either gunna buy a new drive of ebay or something, shortchange "Game" for a new "Wii" - Drive, or im gunna order a new wii laser and put that in and hope it works.

the wii is one of the originals from launch i believe

help with site links to info about all the different drives (gc b2c (?), D2D etc etc.)

i also get how the colour wii's will have drives that wont work. anyone got any tips?

Drives that are model D3-2 and upwards DON'T play backups.

If you have the Wii's serial number then you can check what drive you have, also what type you'll need if you're gonna swap.
