One of the criticisms in the GBATemp review of the Edge was the way that unless you disabled cheats entirely, you would always be asked if you wanted to enable cheats, each time you loaded the game. Did any of the firmwares to date turn this feature off?

i dunno what you're talking about, but
When cheats are ON: a cheat pop-up appears (asking "yes" or "no")
When cheats are OFF: the game boots without a popup
You can toggle this in the settings of the EDGE.

The criticism that the review is stating is that there should be another button for booting with cheats INSTEAD of a popup asking if you want to use cheats.

The answer to your question is "no."

But I don't see how it's a draw back. I mean, if you don't want to select any of cheats for a particular, it's only 1 button (start) away from starting the game without any cheats.
No one can be that lazy, right?
