Hacking Did the 2.1 downgrade for OTP work for you?

The N3DS emunand hex editing was a little scary. May well have been what's been going on for months but I hadn't seen a method like that till I read the OTP guide.

Yup. N3DS, no hardmod (so I was incredibly careful and did all the checks that I was capable of).

In 2.1 and lower,Nintendo maked the OTP accessible by mistake. It was fixed in 3.0 firmware. In emuNAND will not work because it boots first in sysNAND even using MenuHax and the lock its activated.
PS: The difficulty doesnt matter to me,the only thing i want its safety.

To get your OTP file. However as I've discovered tonight unless you know your shit with programming and the dev scene, the file is pretty much useless to normal end users like me.

2.1 on a New 3DS!? Does that break the super stable 3D?

If serious, it sure does lol. 3D is completely broken. We do not stay on 2.1 though, after getting the OTP file, it's back to 9.2 via sysnand restore.

Unless you know what you're doing (a dev or just know) not much you can do right now, but it doesn't hurt to get the file as it should be handy for us all one day.

Permanent CFW possibility without need of emuNAND, just like we have for Wii
(patched/hacked environment from the moment the console is powered on)

From what I understand whenever the console is booted it signs the areas with a new generated keys from the OTP (pool of keys valid for that particular console).
Once we have the OTP of that particular console we would be knowing all possible combinations right from the start. So every time we could unlock the areas.

Thanks but tamper with the sysnand isnt risky? How can we will have permanent cfw?

Yep just got it done now.

N3DSXL 9.2 to 2.1 to 9.2 no hard mod.

Had a few scares but its done now and have my otp.bin backed up.
