Why would the size matter?
It's not like the µSD card will refuse it.
True, but if it's like 200+MB people might just not have room for it on their card.
Great idea though, I fully support this (not like that will help you much XD) but good luck!

I don't think it'll be 200MB.
Just think that the biggest official games to date are 128MB.<

And anyway, it's not like the maker will gain any money from this.
If people really want it and they don't have enough space, then they:

1- Delete some stuff;
2- Get a bigger capacity µSD.

Doesn't make you seem smart.
Makes you seem like a spammer.
I type "µSD" because it's faster.
I type SD x 10^-6 because scientific notation is fun.
This is kind of...derailing. So, back to the original thing about it possibly ending up as 200+mb, it might be possible if all the things we are imagining to be implemented are implemented since Benjifs already stated that he currently doesn't know how to compress the files. Most likely not, especially if the cries aren't added. At max, I'm expecting something rivaling or a little above that one caramelldansen homebrew.

Where did the 200MB come from? It would never be that huge. I expect it to be less than 20MB but I'd say somewhere around there. I mean I still think thats a pretty huge file but thats just me..

Cool but it looks a bit aso it was made years ago.

Yes i wrote the first version right before platinum came out, then I was going to work on updating to platinum and they announced heartgold and soulsilver so i decided I'd wait for the sprites and descriptions to come out so I dont have to rework all that in. Now its about ready to be released.

xD You are going to have to wait until the next version of pokemon comes out, because that is a whole new batch of pokemon that are going to be released (I think =D?). And then after that, we might as well wait for the next gen pokemon while we are at it. xD that sort of logic can go indefinitely the way the pokemon industry is going.

I think you should start a new thread, once you complete the HGSS version you are working on, with a proper title, since I don't think DexterDS will really hold.

Yea I think I'll make a new thread as soon as I release it. Of course once its done if any new pokemons come out I'll include them as long as its relevant. And features will be included as well but it all depends on the reception and if theres not such a good response I'll just leave it at that I guess..

Well I for one think it's a nice idea. Not that that means anything in comparison with the temp's over 200000 members XD, but anyway.

How is this moving along?

I had an idea for this. How about you try to find a way to merge this project (when it gets finished) with the PokeSAV editor, so you have a full-fledged Pokémon tool?

Just wondering.

Actually I've hit a couple of speed bumps. First I've been trying to get the pokedex entries for all pokemons from heartgold and soulsilver in one list but Its impossible to find, and I dont know how to write a program that goes to a website and gets the necessary info.
Also since the computer in which I originally wrote this broke I had to get a new one, and that meant having to reinstall everything for PAlib and devkitARM. This is presenting a problem since I'm getting some incompatibilities but I'll keep working on this to figure it out.
As of right now all I really need is to include the descriptions and compile and its done for all 493 pokemons. I just hope I can figure out the weird issues soon.

And by the way the name has now officially been changed to PokeDexterDS. I will post a new topic once its ready for release.

I would like to include some kind of things from the PokeSAV. I mean I would have to find proper documentation and understand how the save files are read but once I figure all that out then I could merge it into the pokedex.

I've also found PAlib somewhat inconsistent with newer versions of DevkitARM when I've tried (and failed) to learn C++ and make a Hello World on DS. I just followed the instruction on the PAlib wiki:
As of devkitARM R28, you will need to rebuild palib to compile without vrambank errors. To do so, go to /devkitPro/PAlib/source/ directory and run the clean.bat file, then the build.bat file.

Pretty much fixed it when I re-ran Programmers Notepad.

The problem is since the images are more than 4MB total, I need to use some sort of file system. I was using EFS but its giving me way too many problems. I've been looking for the older versions of devkitARM and PAlib and all those so that I can compile it again. So far I've found devkitARM and PAlib. still looking for libnds
