Ok, it took me a while to pickout the difference but ... are you referring to the missing particle effects?
Yes, here's a video that demonstrates how it's supposed to look, basically in Devolution nothing shows up.

The big issue here is this game overly uses that effect or similar effect which makes the game slightly problematic.
For example one of the enemies uses a laser beam attack that is shown to first charge and then shoots out but because that effect never shows up the shots are invisible and a screenshot would be useless.
Also all "Team Blasts"(as the game calls them) have this problem, not just Shadow.

On another note, on the initial boot after verification all the effects are there; it's only after the 2nd boot that all those effects disappear or appear messed up. What can one assume here?

I can't get the GC version of twilight princess working on Wii U. I verified it first on my Wii. And it started up just fine. I then took the SD card out and put it in my Wii U. Went to USB loader GX, and selected the game. But it didn't work. I just got a black screen. This is strange since my other gamecube games work fine on the Wii U. I followed the same method for verifying them. What's going on? Does anyone else have this problem?

You used the same wiimote you verified with on the Wii u right? Some games will boot up straight away after having it hooked up

Someone needs to test and see if Devolution can see a wired and/or wireless PS4 controller.
I think I was just reading yesterday (although not sure where) that a PS4 controller worked as a PS3 controller ONLY over the USB connection (... or was it vica versa ? ...) and that the wireless connection was NOT compatible between the two.

I might be wrong but I was under the impression that Devolution used the USB cable connection ONLY for syncing and that even while it was plugged in, it was still communicating the actual button pushes through Bluetooth. If that's the case, I'd think Nintendont would be more compatible with a PS4 controller for now than Devolution.

EITHER of those apps, though, you won't really know until you test it.

I totally just came here to see if there was any info on PS4 controllers and Devo.

I'm pretty sure it communicates DirectInput style information over USB for Devolution, but this is all academic anyway. I definitely want to give the PS4 controller a try with Devo; it feels so much more comfortable than the PS3 controller and I could really use those analog shoulder buttons for some games...

Weren't the PS3's shoulder buttons analog too?
*goes to look it up*

EDIT : Wikipedia (yes, all I personally have to go off of) says they were analog already and that the shape of the L2/R2 buttons was just slightly changed for PS4. All buttons are supposed to be analog since PS2 but just PS3 and and PS4 have that analog value measured for the L2/R2 buttons in particular a little more like GC's sliding L/R shoulder buttons instead of just pressure sensitive like the rest of them.

I'm aware of that but I don't really like the DS3 that much, so I've been using my the Pro Controller instead.

I'm pretty sure I did. But in case I didn't, how can I re-verify it?
Check the read me that comes with devolution, I think it states how to reverify a name if needed, failing that delete the game and reinstall it

Yay! I got it working. Turns out I did need to re-verify it. I can't wait until nintendont comes out so we don't have to do this s***. Thank you. :)

This, a thousand times this. I never really found the Dualshock 1, 2, or 3 all that comfortable due to the very short hand grips. I realize that you're not supposed to hold the controller the same way one would hold, say, a GameCube controller, but I never felt like I had a good hold on the controller with the intended way to hold it. And then there's those loose analog sticks...

For reference, I have small hands.

I just tested Devolution on vWii and I still can't get real 4:3 aspect ratio, I get black vertical bars on the sides but not true 4:3, I have widescreen hack disabled. I thought I'd get true 4:3 since VC games are displayed in native 4:3 ratio...

Uhh... if you're on a widescreen TV then having black bars on the left & right is true 4:3.

If this is the same issue I have on a normal Wii and the black bars are small ones, not as big enough to really make it 4:3, then it's just something weird about the video signal sent by GC games (as well as the occasional homebrew and Wii game, actually) and those bars are there on DM(L) as well as Devolution (only Nintendon't removes them) and even disk based GC games and it doesn't matter if it has the widescreen option on or not. No widescreen just stretches the image and leaves those black bars there. I think it's just a slightly different video signal format that cartain TV's (like mine) are not sure how to handle. (Also, if your TV automatically adds the black bars when it detects a 4:3 signal you might not notice it since the little black bars might blend in with the big black bars your TV imposes on you.)

[edit] If ^this^ is the case, unfortunately, I don't think there's anything you can really do about it. [/edit]

On the other hand, if you're talking about the black bars that the Wii U adds in there from the moment you start HBC and they just don't go away when you start Devolution, I'd suggest accessing either Devolution or HBC through a forwarder channel or just use the aspect ration fix app from HBC that tueidj made BEFORE running Devolution.

As Maxternal mentioned the bars are smaller than the true 4:3

That's the reason why I prefer Devolution even over disc channel, because it the closest to get 4:3 aspect ratio. Most people hate those black bars, but I actually love it because GCN games were created to run in native 4:3, not stretched widescreen, when you stretch the image you lost pixel density, hence image quality.

(only Nintendon't removes them)

Are you sure about that? At least on my 4.3 EDTV it is exactly the same for Nintendont, MIOS, Devo and GC.

The first image is Nintendont and the second is everything else. That's just how WW is; other GC games have way bigger bars.
I think it has to do with horizontal problems with old CRTs, because it could be the signal but the Wii also has a lot of games like that.

Hmm, that's interesting. I know I have bigger bars WW on DM(L) than Nintendont ... but now that I think of it I usually play the PAL version with DM(L) as I do with many GC games for the language support (forced to 480p) and I HAVE to use the NTSC version for Nintendont so I wonder if it's not something to do with how when squishing 576 lines of resolution into 480 lines it also squishes it horizontally. I'm curious now and will have to do some playing around with it to see. :)
