DevMenu isn't homebrew
Anyway only MT-card and Gateway work with the dev tools right now.

and how do you install cia games without turning off the 3ds?

Copy them over with FTP? Yep it'd be hell slow but would get there eventually. haha

Transfer a bunch of Cia's before booting into 3ds mode?
Me and my buddy are sharing the red card. whenever he want's new games he comes to me for installation.

With a 16gb card you can fit about 20 games on there wich should be enough to keep you entertained quite a while.

It doesn't produce any noticable heat at all so I doubt that'll be a problem.
A more likely problem is when his battery dies after a few months because he had to keep charging it in order for the 3DS to not turn off. Considering that, it'd probably be cheaper to get a GW now and save from having to replace the battery every few months. Doesn't take many battery replacements for it to cost more than a GW.
