Lately, I kept getting the following error message randomly (!) when I tried to compile a homebrew project using
Code:
make clean && make
or sometimes just
Code:
make
Code:
0 [main] sh 316368 fork_copy: linked dll data/bss pass 0 failed, 0x1D8000..0x1D8AD8, done 0, windows pid 316700, Win32 error 998
/bin/sh: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable
make: *** [build] Error 129
What is this? Why is it happening and how to fix it? I'm on Windows 10. It never happened before. I read it might have to do with my antivirus but I'm using Windows Defender. Microsoft updated the interface just now. Seems like this could be the culprit:

EDIT:
Even with the protection disabled the issue persists.

Windows Defender is garbage. You have to use gpedit to really turn it off. Simply disabling realtime protection in the interface does not actually turn it off.

Disable it in group policy and reboot
