ROM Hack devkitpro autoinstaller not working?

hi there, I'm trying to learn to make homebrew for my ds, but when I use the autoinstaller i get an error (a 404). Ive tried using manual install, but now visual C++ cant find cmd.exe

(i followed the tut on the website, and I think the error is to do with the environment variables.). Im going to do a system restore or something and see if that helps, but in the meantime, can someone give me a step by step guide on how to install devkitpro manually? also if someone has had this error too, how can I rectify it. Thanks in advance,

probably wont get much help here, this site is more focused on warez than on development. I'd try forum.gbadev.org, wintermute, the maintainer of devkitpro, regularly answers questions there.

I had the same error with devkitpro 1.4.7 I used 1.2.7 and atleast got it downloading.

Say, did you install it too so you can try Xtend DS ^^ ?
