A friend gave a heads up to me on this, and I pass it on to all here...
For those who want to enjoy the classic Descent sound but don't want to deal with patch sets, the DXX-Rebirth group have sound Add-Ons of all the game music. They have three different sets covering three popular sound chips of the time, the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 MIDI Module, Creative AWE32 and Yamaha YMF262 OPL3. All sets are more complete, and in my opinion more true to the original Descent experience than the GoG "Disco set"
The only snag is that the sound files are encoded in the OGG Vorbis format...So you have to convert them to the MP3 format in order to use them with tueidj's Wii Port.
Enjoy: http://www.dxx-rebirth.com/addons/
EDIT: They have music for both Descent I & II, so be sure you get the right set, well I guess you could use the Descent II music still, hmmm, wonder if the music would still match the levels' ambiance...
