I think it would be a good idea to have a sort of section so we can post deals, whether it be video games, electronics, movies, etc. Since our hobbies aren't exactly cheap (for the most part), it would be a good way to help save money in the long run wouldn't it?

People miss out on good deals all the time so I think it would help make others more aware of deals from various retailers.

I post deals that I come across in the shoutbox,
simply because the deals are temporary, as are messages left there.

If we were to employ this sort of subforum, the threads need to be self-limiting. When you post the deal, you would have to post the date that the deal ends on. At that time the thread closes or deletes itself, to keep people from locating the thread with a search and getting disappointed when they find that the deal is expired.

That could work. I've seen a similar system used on CAG and many other websites I've been on.

We already discussed and rejected the possibility of a specific deals section being implemented a while back in the staff section.
Ah, really? Why was it rejected exactly?

If I recall it was rejected for various reasons, but the main one being that specific websites dedicated to deals already exist, sites such as http://www.cheapassgamer.com/ and http://www.hotukdeals.com/gaming/deals/new that we could try and imitate but never better. These sort of sites are not only completely dedicated to deals alone but they are also region specific, someone in the UK clicking the cheap ass gamer link will be redirected to "cheap arse gamer" for example. For a deals section to work and be easy to browse each region would require its own section also each type of deal would also require its own section, otherwise deals from all over the world and of every type would be jumbled together in one place. And this would be too massive an addition to the forum for something that we aren't really geared towards specialising in.

Dice: pfft, details.

Anyways I tend to agree. We already have the shoptemp stuff and there are enough dedicated sites out there. I know I keep an eye out on redflagdeals up here in canada already.
