Noob question here.

I'm about to pass my Vita on to a friend but it's currently activated under my PSN account. I'm on firmware 3.65 running Enso, with some homebrew and games installed.

If I deactivate it from my playstation account, what would it break? Would any of the games stop working? Anything else to be aware of?

1. Ask your friend to make his own PSN id, install QCMA so he will not be bother by update notice
2. Put your vita in Airplane mode, install NoNPDRM/PKGJ to free him from store.
3. Unlink the memory card so he can log in with his PSN, and Force him to remember to NOT format the memory card or update firmware. Believe me, you dont want him to learn the hard way.

Thanks,

My friend is not very technical. I just want to give him something he can turn on and play. So if I could clarify a couple things:

1. Ask your friend to make his own PSN id, install QCMA so he will not be bother by update notice
If he has no plans of copying content from PC to computer, this isn't' necessary correct?

2. Put your vita in Airplane mode, install NoNPDRM/PKGJ to free him from store.
I have both of these installed on the Vita currently. As far as I know, NoNPDRM is just required to play backups (does it serve any other purpose?). I never fully understood how PKGJ worked. I thought it was designed to download the most recent patch to a game so you could play it online, but anytime I patch a game with it, I still get the "A new version of the application is avaiable. you must go back to the livearea screen and then update the application."

3. Unlink the memory card so he can log in with his PSN, and Force him to remember to NOT format the memory card or update firmware. Believe me, you dont want him to learn the hard way.
Think I'm good with this. I seem to remember unlinking the card when I initially hacked the system. I'm running everything right now off of SD2Vita and a micro SD card.

So in short, do you think I'd be good to just deactivate the vita from my account, put it in airplane mode and say "here ya go, don't connect it to the internet."?

Strictly speaking you don't need a PSN account if you don't need Content Manager nor PSN (which some titles gratuitously require) - but honestly it's worth the one-time effort

NoNPDRM is just required to play backups (does it serve any other purpose?)
It can also create your legal backups to be used with the same plugin on any console :)
(and just to be clear it covers Vita software only - no PSP/PS1/PSM, the latter format has its own equivalent plugin, while there's no "true to official" way to run PSP/PS1 backups with actual bubbles on the livearea)

I never fully understood how PKGJ worked. I thought it was designed to download the most recent patch to a game so you could play it online
It can download game updates (if you selected them), then you must install them with the arrow-into-orange-circle button (the same used to start downloading updates the official way)

As for the original question, deactivating would break (the next time it goes online) any original digital games and not much else if anything :)

My friend is not very technical. I just want to give him something he can turn on and play. So if I could clarify a couple things:

set up a Sony PSN account for him, then use account switcher:

https://github.com/elpendor/accountswitcher

to change from your account to the new account... all the 'content' you have on the memory card will be accessible once you switch accounts
