So I've recently figured out how to extract roms from the SSBB masterpieces. I wanted to do this to be able to extract 2 games from the japanese version: Fire Emblem 3 and Mother 2. So I did that and they both worked. But they both have bad checksums, and when I tried to use the translation patch for FE3(from here), the game couldn't get past the title screen. Is there any way to(easily) fix the two roms without generating a new checksum?

Edit: can I change the title of the thread? It should be DSBX(Dairantou Smash Bros. X), Brawl's japanese name.

Is there some reason you absolutely need to use this version of the game with the translation patch? You're honestly better off getting a 'known/verified' version of the ROM from the internet somewhere.

Also, if you really want to keep trying, make sue the Fire Emblem ROM has a header (you need one for the patch to be applied correctly).

I'd prefer to prove to the judge that I can do this without downloading a dump off the internet.(I want this as legal as possible)

Can you point me to any tools that can check headers? The only one I've found is an old dos application.NVm, Dosbox is awesome.

Edit: Also, the game ran(patched) up until the title screen. Then the game froze(on snes9x, it crashed on zsnes).

Added header to game via snestool, said no to HiROM, disabled static ram. Now it gets past title screen, but freezes on file select(I think it's the file select, anyway).

Edit: Nevermind, tried the v1.1 patch and it works like a charm now! Hopefully the Mother 2 rom is fine as well, don't have any patches to test it with.

Must have been a real pain to extract them.

Not really. N64 roms are the easiest, the others are a little trickier, but there's a collection of tools for VC games that can work for the nes & snes games.
