I imagine if you could try really hard to remember how you successfully changed your name, that would really help those trying to edit saves as you must have found a way around all the checks they keep referring to. I'm not one of those people most of this goes over my head. But I would have though it would be quite a big step in the right direction

Except he didn't edit his name in gen 6. (If he ever did, it was in past gen and he had a program fix his checksums for him.)

Since Datel doesn't allow for code customization, you'll never get a change OT code.

Change your game language to Japanese, collect Charizard, change back to English and you'll have JAP Charizard.

This is perfectly normal...

Nope. To be a legal Pokemon the Charizard has to be Japanese, since the wondercard is only available legally to Japanese games.

EDIT: But you should be able to use the language-edit code to make your game Japanese, get the wondercard, and switch back, like Simon Blackquill said.

What if an English speaking guy lives in Japan and set his Japanese game in English? I mean, this has happened, I own an English Happy Hour Inkay.

Why does anyone care what stone it's holding anyway? Yeah, it's kind of lame, but you can get any Megastone with the powersaves.

Hmm, okay fair enough. I'd have to double check to see if there weren't any additional hidden bytes (like the 3DS region byte) that would technically make them illegal, but whatever.

Hi, I am new here.. I am from Tokyo and I set my Japanese Pokemon X in English. All of my local event pokes(Corocoro Garchomp, Corocoro Charizard Y, Tokyo bay Inkay) are all in English, they followed the language of my game.

My Pokemon Y save can't be deleted and it can't be saved over. If I try and save my game it appears as though it is saving, but it doesn't actually save and when I load up my game its the previous save that loads, not the one I saved. Also, I have tried to delete my game after backing up my pokemon on pokebank several times and start new, but when I delete it it doesn't actually get deleted and my save file still exists. I am at a complete loss about what to do. Also, I have tried restoring every backup I have of my game as well as tried to apply new codes, but nothing will overwrite my save. I can't restore and I can't add any codes. So I am stuck on what to do. If anyone has any ideas or anything for this unique and ridiculous problem it would be appreciated.

(On a funny side note, When I backed up my pokemon onto pokebank, since my save file can't be overwritten it automatically cloned all my pokemon since my save didnt change.)

I was really pleased with that. I dislike having Japanese Pokemon names. Really, I prefer to be able to nickname them myself, but with events it's understandable.

There is language, and there is 3DS region.

The language can be anything,
but 3DS region must be Japanese.

To further complicate legitimacy,
I'm pretty darn sure that not every country can be found on a Japanese 3DS,
and that information is also stored on .pkx;
Some country codes will make any Japanese-locked event illegal as well.

(like how I can't find Japan on my NA 3DS)

EDIT: tl;dr
The language doesn't matter (unless the wondercard prevents language as well, but that's dumb).
The important thing here is the 3DS region and country IDs.

That had to be the most obvious issue. Anyways, I think it's impossible to get those events via Wondercard and keeping them legit.

If the wondercards are preset to collected on japan 3DS and japan country id, it shouldn't be an issue.

(Presently the Wondercard default setting all shows collected by recipient).

EDIT:
Important question is if those distributions were region locked.

Any NA user received Inkay from the Pokemon Centre? (FTR, it isn't)

Any NA user collected the Charizard for themselves?

That kind of information will determine if it was region locked.

You're correct on the country vs 3DS region thing. A US 3DS can't set these countries in the settings, found that out while I was breeding for Vivillons. I assume that applies for EU and JP 3DS as well.

  • Elegant - Japan (Iwate, Kyoto, Miyazaki, Tokyo), France
  • Garden - Australia [Tasmania only], Ireland, Isle of Man, New Zealand, Poland [Podlaskie only], Serbia and Kosovo, United Kingdom
  • Meadow - Andorra, Austria [Vorarlberg only], France, Germany [Baden-Wurttemberg and Saarland only], Italy [Lombardia and Piemonte only], Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Spain [Cataluna only], Switzerland
  • Monsoon - Hong Kong, India, Okinawa, Taiwan
  • River - Australia, Botswana, Chad, Lesotho [Butha-Buthe], Mali, Mauritania, Namibia, Niger, South Africa, Spain [Canary Islands only]
  • Tundra - Iceland, Norway [Hordaland and Møre og Romsdal only]
More countries for EU listed here:

Is there at least 1 region both EU and Japan share?

For that information, we'll need to do a cross reference.

I don't know if anyone here has a JP 3DS,
and even if they do, typing out every country in their 3DS will probably be a hassle.

Thing is, after all that work,
the 3DS region byte will still be "NA" or "EUR" (depends on user here)

I've read that local events so far has not been region locked, but serial codes one are.
Going by that, I believe WINTER2013 events are US locked, Charizard is JP locked.
