none of the betas needed a patched IOS. they have their own exploit and IOS patches that they do

Edit: speaking of which, why don't people just use riivolution to get custom tracks in rock band etc? Why hold out for rawkSD? Is there actually still some limitation preventing riivolution from doing it?

Yes. They probably share code, since the same guy was involved in both.
I wasn't aware there was a way to do that with Riivolution, but it is a good point. After all, the PC app that comes with RawkSD already puts the songs in the right format. Somebody would need to write the Riivolution scripts to mimic RawkSD's functionality. RawkSD allows the use of USB and SDHC in RB2, features normally unavailable in the actual game. A Riivolution setup would have to do this too.
