Well i am picking this game up and hope to get this translated in my spare time which atm i have lot of. I am new to hacking but i got the rom pulled apart and started doing some translation already here is a small teaser.

Still running into problem with character length when translating from japanes to english trying to figure out how i can expand the box to hold more characters.

To post and image upload it somewhere and when you post it, there's a picture icon on the top, click it and put the url of the image in and done.

You'll need to program or have a tool programmed for you, specifically for the game in order to fit more text into a dialogue box. That or continue changing pointers, which is the hard and very long way.

It's not what I would suggest. It's what you would need. You need a program created that will recalculate pointers automatically so you can have more room to work with.

Track what down? A programmer? You can post an ad on http://www.romhacking.net/helpads or you can ask around and/or learn a programming language for yourself.
The best advice I can give you is to learn more romhacking. That will get you past quite a few obstacles.

First of all, YOU're the greatest, dude!!!
Of all the people who love uncharted waters series, you are the only one that has the ability to translate JPN-EN plus hacking!!!

As one of UW Fans, (dying to play UW4 for years!!! and years to come IF finally for some reason - difficulties being the most obvious - you decide to abandon the project...), I just wanna share an idea to solve your problem :

i think just to be quick & practical on the project, maybe you should just "shortened" the long translation (from Jap - En)
and make a guide (i.e a .txt file) alongside your translation just in case people cannot figure out what words they actually are...
example : NW GME (for New Game)

Hope this will solve your problem & the translation will finally see the light of day!!!
