Can you transfer an EU/US save (far along enough to use Pokémon Bank) into a brand new Japanese copy of X/Y (with no save file) by simply backing up your save file via powersaves, decrypting it, and then injecting it into your JP cart with the cyber gadget software? I've seen it mentioned a few times but it can't be that simple surely?
No. The save data part of the card is not initialized. When you first bootup the game it will initialize it. Before it is initialized, data can not be read or written to the card.

About the cross region saves, iirc it should work, but dont quote me on it. Try looking for used games. Chances are they been played at least once.

update. Cyber Save Editor2 just updated list of games. Just added was a 'save bank' function(separated listing for your game saves) with support for a lot of the games which weren't in the list previous as well.

Thought as much. It does sound like something that could potentially be combatted though, I can't imagine it being that difficult for somebody with experience of building programs to develop a tool to artificially initialise the save data.

I've heard conflicting information on this, but is the actual save file of the previous owner still required to be on there, or will the save data bit be initialised upon their first use and remain forever, regardless of them wiping it? Because used cartridges on eBay, Amazon etc are abundant, but I don't know how many people will wipe their save file before selling it ( though I've bought loads of second hand Pokémon games over the years and they've all had old save files on them)

the second you boot the game and it hits that language select screen, it will have written in the 0xFF blocks that it needs, as well at the first 0x5400 bytes of data (DIFI/DISA etc) as well as the xorpad on top..with that, you should be able use the cart, but idk.. havent tried.
Also initializing a cart programmatically is most likely impossible atm. A blank cart has is all 0xFF'd out, and to initialize it, even assuming you were able to guess the first 0x5400 bytes of data, and assuming you were able to extract the data needed to generate the KeyY, you still cant calculate the KeyY without the RSA engine i believe.. i havent messed with the cyber editor that much with this kind of thing, so i cant say with 100% certainty that you cant, but im dont think its possible. it just seems like more hassle either way.

hey, can anyone help me with this error?
this pops up whenever it prompts me to update the firmware
it says "releasing to DFU mode" and then gives me this

4a2c58031c.png

and then it's stuck on an "updating firmware" screen forever. if I X out of it, it says it's done, but upon restarting the program, it does this entire thing over again.

EDIT: I managed to fix it with a clean reinstall (Japanese) of the program. I tried using the English patched one on my first startup and that was probably part of my problem. I'm not sure why I got that error, but at least I'm passed this problem now haha.

God, I wish everything wasnt so expensive....by the time I`m able to get my hands on everything I need, ORAS will be cracked open like a dropped egg and X/Y will be obsolete....and who knows if backwards compatibility for trading will be incorporated.....soooo...anyone live in PA and own a Save Editor?

i would have to guess same as what you came to @clean reinstall. probably was caused by the english patch since they added new things on the most recent update @"save bank" option.

Change anything else that's gender specific, I would imagine the clothes you are wearing would be a good start....if you know where to edit for that

I wouldn't chance it.
I do have those pokemon, but I haven't registered them in the pokedex just in case Nintendo begin their crackdown on cheaters lol.

To be honest, there is nothing special about them, beside the fact they're unreleased. Hoopa and Volcanion are easily beat in battle, even with their EV's set at 510.

with Nintendo, you never know.
You can delete them from the pokedex easily though, so its no problem if you ever hear of Nintendo cracking down.
