It seems a group going by the name: DerpTrolling have been responsible for a number of cyber attacks including taking down the servers of DOTA 2, League of Legends and more. Their main attention being the famous streamer PhantomL0rd. The group have been stalking, DDOS'ing and effectively cyber bulling him off any game for the course of the day, even discovering his address.
The events have even landed Phantom at the mercy of a police squad at his home.
While most servers appear to be recovering, these attacks have really highlighted the question of safety within our online gaming networks.

Known Affected:
EA
League of Legends
Club Penguin
DOTA 2
World of Warcraft

This is pretty bad and all, and I feel bad for the (albeit terrible) community of MOBA players, but man is this kind of funny. I only skimmed through the source, but is there any particular reason they targeted the streamer or was it just a whole "4TEHLULZ" type shit?

I cant find any reason myself.
PhantomL0rd is freaking huge though, he makes money upon money off streaming League. One of the biggest streamers in NA
Probably just picked a high priority target,
he just released a FB message saying he's out of handcuffs now...

...well i'm gonna say it.

and nothing of value was lost.
(except DOTA2 is kinda cool but still can't hold a candle to Smite)

Going a bit far getting the nerd arrested, but otherwise it's pretty sad any of these services could be DDOS'd by a bunch of bored kids.

Never heard of the guy but that is hardly surprising; streaming is a lesser form of let's play and I am not especially fond of that at the best of times. Normally I would question the use of cyber but seen as swatting is apparently still a thing I guess I will let it slide.

I'm gonna go in and say Dota 2 servers going down isn't something new. In fact, it happens maybe at least once or twice a month.

The attitude from a lot of people in this thread is pissing me off. If you don't like lets players/streamers don't watch their streams and lets plays, don't support a bunch of little fame seeking skiddies who are ruining innocent peoples fun.

You're so jelly I could stick you between two slices of bread and call you lunch.

that joke took me a whole minute to understand and was terrible.

even though I hate MOBA's isn't correct going spoiling the fun of people that enjoy them.
I don't know if feel good and enjoy how they ruin the fun of MOBA players or bad because isn't correct.
