Good idea, really. We can even do both if we can manage.

But the more I think about what you said. It is true we really never see the DS menu much..The only time is really only, when, we pictochat, ds download play, and change settings.

But I think it would be pretty cool to add another color scheme to the menu. I wanted to hack it around and add black. ^^

I'm all confused. FIRMWARE.BIN don't run... where can I download the DS Lite firmware or a runnable version of FlashMe 8?

Of course firmware.bin doesn't run. It's a dump of your firmware, not an executable *.nds file. Loopy dumped his firmware and hacked it into an executable *.nds file, which is what the firmware.nds file is. You can't do that yourself.

FlashMe can be downloaded from the FlashMe homepage. http://www.google.com/search?q=flashme will get you there.

That's not ganna help. I don't want the FlashMe installer, I want the FlashMe dumped firmware, like Firmware.nds is. Can I hack firmware.bin in any way to run as .nds app?

You'd have to ask Loopy (aka Olimar aka the guy who created FlashMe) as he's the guy who created the firmware.nds file in the first place.

Look at http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=13459 for some more discussion on it. Apparently Loopy edited his post a month ago to remove the download link, but from memory I just remember it saying something to the effect of "I once hacked the firmware into a working executable file. It was a lot of work, and it's the DS Phat firmware only. I don't plan to do the same for the DS Lite firmware." and then the link to the firmware.nds file.

Keep in mind of course that any changes you make to an executable *.nds file won't actually change the firmware on your DS at all.

I know but it will change my firmware.nds file which I run on my flashcart into one which supports brightness adjust and doesn't show a splash screen.
