Homebrew Custom Theme Thread

To anyone that has gotten sound to work, I keep getting "file size is too large" is there any way around this? 1.8 mb or smaller is like nothing... :/

I had the most luck keeping the file size around 3mb.
Interesting. Thanks. Using a bcstm from Bravely default that was 1.5mb loaded in properly, but for some reason the home menu is quiet now. Odd.

How did you get your file size that low? Wav files are big, and bcstm doesn't compress at all.

Here is a Sword Art Online theme I made. Custom background music is included.

awesome! but the background music, do i have to install that in some special way, or does it install itself automatically along with the .bin file?

nevermind!

Made a crappy My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic (no hate please) theme:
Note that due to the brick risk, I have not tested this on my 3DS! Please DO NOT hold me responsible if your 3DS bricks from this.

If anyone could give me feedback (first theme), please do!

Just tested, theme works fine on mine.

How big is the brick risk, by the way? I'm already thinking up a bunch of themes I want to make, but I definitely don't want a brick (Who does?).

On another note, I am a complete noob when it comes to image editing/creating, what do I use to make a blank BMP? Will Paint suffice?

Zero. If you install a invalid theme it will choose the white one instead. You cannot brick your 3DS with this tool.

The only thing that could MAYBE screw it up is if you renamed some other file to have a .bmp, then import it, save it, and run it with ninjhax. But yeah, it would definitely just bounce out and revert to default white

And before anyone asks, No. You cannot write some code in a notepad file, rename it as a .bmp file, import it into the theme, and hack your 3DS to play ROMs.

Here is another one that I just finished,

In this one I replaced the folders with a 3ds that will flip open when the folder is opened. Inside my drop box is the image if anyone else would like to use it. It's inverted color is necessary as the 3ds seems to read it in the opposite of what you put into it.

The cool thing about this one is that I included a sound file that somewhat fits the theme. It's 1 AM from the AC new leaf, and it's ambience fits well.

Hope you enjoy
