No way I'm going to install this without further investigation.
What are the benefits?
I don't think there are that many for now.
Maybe one day it'll allow us to play Trucha signed software on any firmware...This version seems to allow us to play trucha signed discs even with IOS37, but who knows if it's easy for Nintendo to detect the custom IOS...

I'd love to see a custom firmware that lets you disable the warning screen on startup and use a GC controller in the Wii menu...Why does Nintendo still not allow us to use GameCube controllers in the Wii menu? What's the point in having to use the Wii controller to start a GameCube game, or games like SSBB and MK, which can be played with the GC controller?
Is it "too complicated" for the user to be able to use the GC controller? Is it too hard to implement? No, it's not

There's no fucking reason we can't have this.

Unfortunately, this is far from a custom firmware, so I'll have to keep on dreaming for now

Anyway, nice progress.

it allows wii firmware too access the dvd drive so things like emulators can run roms off a disc. A version of genplus using this feartue has already been released with a source code.

i think trucha could work with this(from the wii menu) if you change the IOS on the disk to use the IOS 249 or what ever it was, i think waninkoko made a tool to do this a long time ago
