Hacking ctr-no-timeoffset An error has occurred forcing the software to close

I have been trying to hack my 3ds on the latest frimware using 3ds.hacks.guide. I got to the finalizing setup but when I try to open ctr-no-timeoffset in homebrew through the download play app homebrew freezes for a sec and then closes and a popup apears saying "an error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart. (Unsaved data may be lost)". Any ideas on what to do?

and sometimes it just freezes up the launcher and nothing happens

UPDATE: this seems to happen when I open any apps using homebrew when acsessing it through downloadplay. if I try to open steeldriver again to open homebrew that way it says an exception has occurred
