hehe... this would be nice.

I think Nintendo had it planned for ages since they showed something of the like at E3 2005, IIRC.

1) that sounds like an interesting idea, anyone know what its meant to do?
2) Did anyone else notice the name Wario on the DSPhone contacts list?
and finally
3) its not a purple DS its a normal silver one but the lights in the background make it seem purple, i know this because im pretty sure theres no purple DS's and if there were they would be darker than that, eg the Blue ds is not a very light shade of blue.

A phone would be cool, but to have a real phone you would need a cell-phone signal receiver attachment for your DS. Then, you would probably have to pay for your signal. The current voice chat homebrew obviously only works with wi-fi.

IMO the stuff like the DS have the most potential... much more than ipod and those crap... it's gaming oriented so it has more processing power than those cells/mp3 players... plus it's got touch screen and 2 screens... there's huge possiblily, i hope nintendo develop this crap further.

They probably will, once demand dies down a bit and they need a new gimmick (now matter how important you think it is) to boost sales.

or you could have like your own server and have IP to IP chat using the DS. That way you dont have to worry about people coming into it unless you give them your IP. Then theres a chance that you may not have to open any ports either...wait...how does the wifi chat that that guy made works? If anything he can release a server program and just allow the user to edit the Ip address that it connects to.
